NASA Astronaut Speaks Out On "Global Warming"

SANTA FE, N.M. - Former astronaut Harrison Schmitt, who walked on the moon and once served New Mexico in the U.S. Senate, doesn’t believe that humans are causing global warming.

Schmitt, who grew up in Silver City and now lives in Albuquerque, has a science degree from the California Institute of Technology. He also studied geology at the University of Oslo in Norway and took a doctorate in geology from Harvard University in 1964.

Since I did not have enough room to place this into the "Story Snippet" Category, read this crucial observation which Astronaut Schmitt has to offer:

....the 74-year-old geologist argued that the "global warming scare is being used as a political tool to increase government control over American lives, incomes and decision making."

Astronaut Dr. Schmitt landed on the Moon during Apollo 17 (Following his Overflight, and Apollo 11-Preparation Mission, known as Apollo 10), on December 11th, 1972. His fellow crew mates were:

Astronaut Eugene Cernan (Spacecraft Commander)

and

Astronaut Ronald Evans (Command Module Pilot).


I find it amazing that an ever increasing chorus of Preeminent and Top Notch Scientists are now beginning to push forth, in order to have THEIR voices heard as well, over the Current and Monotonous drone of Politicized Pseudo-Scientific Claims.

At the VERY LEAST, these individuals need to be Respected for their Scientific Analysis and Contributions, and their Observations need to be Considered and Experimented with by ALL who dare consider themselves TRUE "Scientists".

ALSO, as many of you may know, the Apollo Astronauts were all given "Crash Courses" in Geology. However, Dr. Schmitt was the First, and ONLY Apollo Mission Astronaut (To have Landed on the Lunar Surface), who was in fact a Doctorate Qualified Geologist (Scientist).

He also managed to Pilot the Lunar Module as well.



On the Note of His Unique Experience and Qualifications for casting such statements as focused upon in this Article, NASA has this to say in Astronaut Dr. Schmitt's Official Profile:

Before joining NASA, he was with the U.S. Geological Survey's Astrogeology Center at Flagstaff, Arizona. He was project chief for lunar field geological methods and participated in photo and telescopic mapping of the Moon, and was among USGS astrogeologists instructing NASA astronauts during their geological field trips.

As well as:

Dr. Schmitt was selected as a scientist-astronaut by NASA in June 1965. He later completed a 53-week course in flight training at Williams Air Force Base, Arizona. In addition to training for future manned space flights. He was instrumental in providing Apollo flight crews with detailed instruction in lunar navigation, geology, and feature recognition. Schmitt also assisted in the integration of scientific activities into the Apollo lunar missions and participated in research activities requiring geologic, petrographic, and stratigraphic analyses of samples returned from the moon by Apollo missions.

And..

Dr. Schmitt was appointed NASA Assistant Administrator for Energy Programs in May 1974. This office has the responsibility for coordinating NASA support to other Federal Agencies conducting energy research and development and for managing NASA programs applying aeronautics and space technology to the generation, transmission, storage, conservation, utilization and management of energy for terrestrial applications.

What is the ratio of qualified scientists that think global warming is directly attributable to human activities versus scientists that think it is a natural occurrence?

Why is it that only the majority gets heard? Could it be that some scientists are on the oil lobby payroll and thus spreading disinfo?!
