The comet makes its closest approach to Earth (0.41 AU) on Feb. 24, 2009. Current estimates peg the maximum brightness at 4th or 5th magnitude, which means dark country skies would be required to see it.

I think this will be cool i will be looking forward to seeing this thing in a few weeks i hope it comes close enough to get some good looks at it not to close but just enough to see on a nice night maybe i can get some pics if i do i will post them.Also the story behind the discovery is a great beginning for a young Chinese astronomer by the name of Quanzhi Ye who saw his first comet at the age of 7 so grats to him on this awsome find.

Whoa I totally misread the title of this thread!

I thought some sort of Energy Efficient "Green" comet was going to come to Earth and do something...maybe take away our greenhouse gases?


This just shows how the Eco-brainwashing has already taken its effect on my mind.
