Every 40 Years

I've been looking at these boards and seeing a heck of a lot of commotion about the issue of gay rights and marriage. Will/has this become a movement of the same magnitude as the civil rights movement of 40 years ago? Will it succeed with over half the country in opposition to gay marriage?

Speaking of which every 40 years there is a new movement:

1880s: Workers' rights
1920s: Women's rights
1960s: Black rights
2000s: Gay rights

What will be next? I've heard responses ranging from drug user's rights, to teenager's right to vote being lowered to extreme animal rights.

Interesting theory, but not entirely true in my oppinion.

The amount of gays are about 10%, while the others were definitely more than that.

Your right about the numbers.

An accurate count like the U.S. census doesn't exist for a variety of logistical and political reasons. Estimates are of little help, because they vary widely, from 1 percent to 10 percent of the total population, depending on which think tank or company conducts the survey.

I believe in about 100 years every first world country with a decent education system will no longer be under the influence of religion and the thoughts of people who lived thousands of years ago.

Most people against Gays are of a religion that doesn't condone it. Eventually homosexuals will get marriage, no question about it in mind.

P.S. Homosexuals, watch out for radical catholics trying to bomb your weddings. Unfortunately that was a serious remark.

I sincerely hope that we will always have religion. remember, Naziism was seen as progress in Germany as well

Drug user rights........you have got to be kidding me...

That would never happen, and if it does happen, the day that drug users get rights....its the day that I would leave the country. I wouldn't want to raise my kids in an environment where drugs are legal.

I think that what some people in here want is anarchy, nothing more, nothing else. To be able to do whatever they want and have no consequenses for their actions.

My god they really do let any one on these forums don't they. Look momo ever heard of a place called the Netherlands? Ring a bell? Legal drugs, less crime than the US, no war on drugs and in my opinion the society is better adjusted. It's your kind of ignorance that is causing the kind of money drain like the war on drugs, you are ignorant of the facts and the reality and you are afraid of what you don't understand, Plane and simple. Don't you have like a bible class to go to? You have the mentality of someone who needs to believe in god because it quells your fear of not understanding.

You are a classic example of what the world could use less of.

They should legalize some drugs so the government can control it.

Most drugs just get you high. It would surely raise medical income.
