How does this work. In what sense of anything, at all, does this work. Ok. We pay taxes so we can have roads, so we can have stop lights, so we can have cops, so we can have military, etc.

Yet, at the same time, we do not receive free medical? Ahem? Excuse me? I am paying the money that the government is granting the hospitals, doctors, etc. I think I damn well deserve free medical.

And wait, no, it gets even BETTER.

I am receiving a Life Insurance Check due to a passed relative, and guess what? They get to TAKE 30% of my check? And if I choose to not alert them of my check, they will in turn GARNISH any future wages(being they aren't under the table).

So now, I'm jobless, borderline homeless, and the small amount I do receive of money ~4k, I get to to use up in no more than 3 months? JUST TO SURVIVE? Whats better is I initially wanted to half and half the check, but realizing they can even take from ANY income I possibly have(giving I had forgot how evil they are), I know am unable to put 3k in savings and 3k in checkings? I wanted to go to college, but NO.

So here I am.

FOOKED by the DAMN government. I'm honestly considering moving to Canda so incase I break a limb, atleast it will be PAID FOR BY THE GOVERNMENT.

Blah, BLAST the USA.

(yes I know it's worse in another countries and I'm fourtanate to have clothes on my back and food and the luxury of the internet, but with as much god damn money in this world there should be enough to help EVERYONE)

BUT NO, INSTEAD GUESS WHAT?! WE NEED TO BUILD THE LATEST GREATEST WAR MACHINE TO BLOW CRAP UP!

Hah.

Shoot me now.

Move on up here friend, to Canada, but you'll realize that we have more taxation here than most places.

On average with all the benifts and what not they take 30 cents of every dollarI make. And we actually HAVE a law that states you need to pay income taxes. The US doesn't.

Our economy is in the #ter too, and you'll find things to be a bit more expensive on this end, and the jobs less paying depending on what field you go into.

Hahahaha the government is just non-chalant about it. If you don't pay your taxes, then we'll just send the IRS after you and interest your payment by 500%

IRS can't do anything if you've NEVER filed a report, they can't. They fool you into filing that one time. It's easy to get out of tho, just file a null return.

And if it did go to court, just ask them to show you the law in the book, just to show it to you, to tell you where it is.

Or you could just pull out a copy of Money Mechanics distributed by the Fed and use that.

I'm thankful that my granddad had the foresight to distribute most of the cash before he passed. A gift of $10,000 or less is not taxable. What was left was equally distributed from his living will and you have to pay taxes on the interest earned, but not on the amount itself.

OH ok, well when it comes to dealing with your insurance company than yes, they will tax you on that, it's not the same as income tax.

Come on now, where do you think the government gets the money to fund they're activities.....

Drugs....and taxes......

I find it funny.

The same people that are complaining about the government screwing them over wants to give the government even more power to screw you over.

I'm just saying, but look at your rant and think about how much sense that makes. If we had universal health care the 30% that they are taking from the life insurance would probably more along the lines of 50%+.

Free health care ain't free.

You are not illiterate.

Do you know how much taxes millionaires and companies pay alone?

And yet poor people like me deserve to to pay 30% out of my check?

Pfft.

Umm funny enough, we DO have universal Health Care here in Canada, and we don't pay 50% tax. Actually its ENTIRELY funded by the government.

And our Economy is #tier than yours.

I'm going to ask you one question, okay?

How do you like socialism?

You are experiencing the joys of socialism. The government has taken it upon themselves to decide for you that out of your check that you are receiving that you don't need 30% of it. They have decided that they know how to spend that 30% better than you do.

That is the way it is with a progressive tax system. You tax all the rich people to death and what you end up with is no rich people and all poor people.

You're just letting your emotions take over your logic and common sense.

And the government makes money how?

TAXES!!!

edit to add:

I'm not that familiar with the Canadian economics, but you probably pay income tax, capital gains tax, property tax, sales tax, etc. Add it all up and I bet it is way higher tax rate than the US.

Yes they make money that way, but they pay for the Health Care through GST, or General Sales Tax. The income tax doesn't come into it, and neither would taxes paid on pay outs from insurance policies.

And even with the Economy the way it is, we've manager to lower our tax rates and still keep the same benefits we have.

Actually your logic is idiocracy.

The government is the money. The government owns the banks. The government prints the money.

They are the money.

So instead of being nice and helping people out and getting people off the streets, they build newer and better nuclear bombs and spy equipment. They tax us so that we can be poor, so that we literally have to take any kind of anything and get any kind of power that is generally possible from the bottom of the barrel and in turn become one of those rich people that is so self-loathing inside of their money that they don't care about any of the people that they we're one day.

So in turn, your rebuttal fails to make any sense, and the fact remains that the government is corrupt and would rather laugh at people like I that struggle to even feed themselves.

So please, do not try to make any sense.

You fail.

You have your facts confused. In the US life insurance reciepts are not taxable. Maybe what you are dealing with is an annuity? If indeed it is life insurance, then the life insurance company is probaly just withholding taxes. This doesn't mean that you owe them, just that they were withheld. You should be entitled to a rebate of those monies especially if that $4,000 is all you live on. If that's the case you should be paying no taxes at all, getting food stamps and other help the US gives those in poverty as well.

well....theres something wrong here.

you could have worked hard enough through school, impress some one high up, get a huge scholarship, job, what ever earlier in your life.

Tax is necessary, more necessary than you know. Just look at many corrupt countries in Africa. No taxes = weak gov = corruption and failure. Don't go blaming the rich, they have worked their ass off more than you can know. Those guys who never went to parties in high school cause they needed to study to keep their 4.1 at the hardest school in the state? they're the ones in helicopters flying to pick up their bugatti and drive to one of their 7 houses. Thats the truth. And they usually pay a way higher amount or higher % taxes. It is more unfair for them than for you because chances are they arent on the internet all day, they are being productive and helping the the country- lines on a map set up to protect those inside. Which brings us tooooooo....

The army. Takes a billionkajillion dolla dolla bill *yall*. See...canada is screwed if they piss people off...on the other hand, we piss off every country and whens the last time we had a war or attack on our main land? (Besides 911) Think about it. "Teach me to toil and not to ask for rest" its from the bible, bible is more about moral value and less about god should read it its good stuff. And it works.
zzzOMG AMEN LAWDY AMEN

First I'm not attempting to sound condescending or any other ill affects that you may perceive by what I'm about to tell you.

Do yourself a favor and read a few books on economics. Also read up on the Federal Reserve. The federal reserve is a quasi-private institution. I'm not going any further into this with for the simple fact that I'm not a teacher and you need to go learn some things.

Your trying to say my logic is idiocracy(which isn't even a word by the way) meanwhile your saying that the government is money and they can just print it at will.

Read a book on economics.

Taxes are actually quite low now. In the 1950s, the top tax rate was 90% and now it is only 35%. Can you imagine keeping only 10 cents to every dollar made? (The very wealthy did hire tax people to find every loophole they could.)

I do agree that the federal and state income tax, property taxes (even people who rent pay property taxes in their monthly rents), sales taxes, death taxes, hidden taxes and assorted fees all add up and are too high today.

I like the idea of a value added tax on none food items, and an added luxury tax for higher end items.
