(inside joke) It seems to me Falk has taken a dove approach to the whole situation, probably from his many years at the UN. A lot of talking and no walking if you know what I mean. I wish I could pull out some quote about the price of war off the top of my head. But it is true, Israel's position is almost impossible to comprehend. I think Falk laid it out pretty well: world sympathy for the Palestinians, a militant Iran, and the forgetting of the Holocaust (aka Jewish sympathy). I don't want to break into some utilitarian argument about the price Israel will pay for the attack on Gaza. But In the long rung I see it as the right choice. Gaza is under the control of extremists; the whole world is watching, including the Jewish people, how Israel will react. Will it be strong or weak? In the middle east this is the dividing line. Israel is surrounding on all sides by enemies. That does not excuse civilian casualties in Gaza. But how else can you show your self-determination?
