My opinion of this is that rather than actually going after the source of things such as child pornography and arresting these people. They would rather use it as a tool for internet censorship.

Its a shame that our governments procrastinate more than the people.

I guess if they removed the source there would be no crime and no money for the judiaciary system to take.

Sweep it under the carpet.....I mean filter.

Gordon West, the last time I read my Bible, the good Lord never paired two women together, but he paired a man and a woman together, "Adam and Eve." Women with women is a sin(Romans 1:26, 27).

Mikey, that is terrible that Australia gives you no choice. I never voted, for there was no one worth voting for! My government would have to lock me up, for I am a "true patriot," would refuse to vote, so they could kiss my white rump if my government thinks they are going to "make" me vote, NO WAY! I am in the U.S., and I would honestly "refuse" to vote, and rot in prison before I ever did!

I think also what were forgetting is Australia isn't some brainwashed country like the USA where even though you have free speech, everyday your rights are bieng taken away !!!!

The Australian public would run rampant all over this if it was even close to getting put into Goverment

i know for as fact here in Newcastle and in Sydney there are large groups of people about to make major protests about this..... Voices will be heard !!!

thats not what happened when they came for your guns. the Aussies rolled over on that one. so much for "from my cold dead hand".

if the people of austrailia so easily gave up their guns, what stands to reason that they would fight for this? ...and with what, harsh language?

Thank you GravyKraken, you got to him before I did. Not only did the Aussies roll over and give up their guns, but their government "makes" them vote, even if they feel that there is no one worth voting for. That is "not democracy." Here in America, we still have guns, and we don't have to vote if we are uncomfortable with who is running for office.

They will be selling popsicles in Hell the day we Americans give up our guns, cause it ain't happening!

A final bump up for this one. It is the classic baby steps approach to a surveillance state.

I am with tpg in Australia and in the last couple of days I can't access web sites in Romania.

Seems like they are blocking access already.

If the Australian Government really cared about the sites they take issue with they’d leave those sites on the net and monitor who uses them in order to track down the scumbags with the HELP of the very same sites!
Track down the children held hostage as sex slaves.
Track down terrorists, drug users, makers of mass violence.

Has anyone asked the government the above questions?

if not, why not?

If they can track file sharers why can't they track the people who post these images?

why?
