I was inspired in another THREAD to try and get a pulse on where people go
for Alternative News.

CNN, FOX etc seem to be slanted and full of personalities & panels
of people arguing. I do enjoy alternative news and would like to know
what YOU turn to when looking for local, national or political news when
you don't want the same spoon fed crap on major networks.

People sometimes think that if you don't get your news from one of the
major news outlets, that it is not credible or reliable. The major ones
have so much money to dump into hiring a great web-designer and make
it flashy and totally professional. This completely outshines other sites
that can't afford a hip site with a flashy logo.

This threads is NOT to debate which major network is the best or worst.
Simply list any and all alternative sources you go to when looking for a
fresh look or view.

ATS is the first website I go to for alternate news. Another site I go to for alternate news is Belief Net. There are alternate weekly and bi weekly nespapers such as Metroland in my area that are good sources of news and material. Some of the so called 'Third Parties' also have good sources of news as well. But even so, sometimes they are a bit slanted as well. Iread them anyway because sometimes they will really do a great job reporting on a piece of news that you just don't get anywhere else.

ya gotta read it all and make up your mind, or decide to not make up your mind, but you do have to take as much in as possible.

they are all slanted. probably always have been.

Ever since all three cable news stations turned into "The Grand Non-Stop Even If There Is Real News Occurring Politics" station I've been trying to do the same. So far I scour the following a few times a day...

ATS Alt Breaking News - one of the most up to date sources
BBC World News - gives a different perspective compared to USA focused stations
AP Breaking News - hosted.ap.org... Some reports never get covered but are initially reported
Drudge Report - yea there's biased, but occasionally there's a heads up before other main stream sources catch on (been lacking lately though)
Coast to Coast AM - first 10-15 minutes of the show

Even my local print paper has turned to a non-event entertainment only junk reporting format!
