An Article by James Quinn placecs the blame squarely on Baby Boomers for the current predicament of society...

Full Article

I hate to tell you Boomers, but putting a yellow ribbon on the back of your $50,000 SUV is not sacrifice. Our claim to fame is living way beyond our means for the last three decades, to the point where we have virtually bankrupted our capitalist system. Baby Boomers have been occupying the White House for the last sixteen years. The majority of Congress is Baby Boomers. The CEOs and top executives of Wall Street firms are Baby Boomers. The media is dominated by Baby Boom executives and on-air stars. We have no one to blame but ourselves for the current predicament. Blaming Franklin Roosevelt or Lyndon Johnson for our dire situation is a cop out. Baby Boomers had the time, power, and ability to change our course. We have chosen to leave the heavy lifting to future generations in order to live the good life today.

Could this be the smoking gun? Can it really be this simple? A generation bankrupted us not a few Elite men sitting in their mansions plotting against us. Society created the notion that we could live like kings well above our means and the result has been catastrophic. Don't place all the blame on Bernanke, Paulson, and the like. Look to yourselves, your spoiled children, and the entitlment society as a whole.

Based on calculations made by the Federal Reserve, at least 50% of Boomers will not have a happy retirement. The bottom 30% will reach the age of 65 with net worth of less than $100,000. They will try to subsist in poverty, dependent upon social security and part time Wal-Mart jobs until they die peniless. The top 30% will retire to lives of luxury and leisure. The middle 40% will muddle through with social security payments the only thing keeping them from an old age in poverty.

And we wonder why we face Socialism in America... It appears that Socialism is the only thing that will save us from ourselves. Perhaps the people of the NWO that we all fear, don't even know who they are...

Yeah. They are the ones in office. However, it would be another generations fault if they were in office. I mean, Capitalism will always fail because Americans always want to outdo themselves and profit every year etc.

You cannot always make money. If you are doing better every year, someone else is not, or has folded to make way for you. There is only so much money to go around.

Social change is needed.

I blaim the "Greatest" generation for buying into the new ideal of the "american dream" hook line and sinker. They are the ones who felt entitled to having everything the wanted and passed that trait down to the boomers.

We can argue semantics and place blame for the actions of the boomers on any past generation. But the majority of it still lies at their feet. Before the boomers were around families couldn't buy a house without forking out a 20% down payment that they had personally saved. The fact still remains that the nanny state was created on their watch.
