GOP Knocks VA Democrats' Registrations

www.washingtonpost.com

RICHMOND -- Virginia Republicans opened up two fronts in the increasingly testy battle over the voting process Thursday by accusing Gov. Timothy M. Kaine of stacking the registration rolls with felons and raising concerns that county registrars were not allowing some members of the military who are serving overseas to vote.

In response to a Freedom of Information Act request from a GOP legislator, Kaine released the names this week of 1,484 felons whose voting rights were restored this year.

It is interesting to note that during this same time period about One Year ago, Governor Kaine restored the rights of 1/3 the number of Felons as he did this year. In other words, this year alone, Governor Kaine has increased his number of Felons Rights Restorations by Three Fold. Typically, having your rights restored within the Commonwealth is considered an arduous process.

Also, another problem which occurred back in 2004, and 2000, is resurfacing yet again. During the past Two United States Presidential Elections, there were acts of TRUE Voter Suppression through certain groups and individuals attempting to discount Overseas Military Votes. It appears as if this might represent an issue this "Decision 2008" Season as well.
