Their "support" for McCain can be taken 2 ways...

the first is the idea that supporting McCain will drive people into Obama's camp which is the candidate that they want to win thinking that he would be easier to deal with etc...

The second is that since bush minor and his war on terror and invasion of Iraq has been the greatest recruitment tool Al Qaeda has ever had, they think that having McCain in would continue this trend.

I tend to think its the latter personally but then if someone actually votes based on or in reaction to their comments is a fool.

I'm thinking it's to drive people to vote for Obama simply because America is a country that constantly argues amongst itself. They know this. With McCain as a president, military actions will be argued in Congress up and down, but military action still has a chance of happening. I don't think they want to risk another surge happening.

With Obama, they know they don't have to worry about another surge. They know Obama said he was against the surge time and again and never admitted to being wrong about its effectiveness, so they know that another wouldn't happen. They also expect negotiation under Obama, and in the beginning I think they will be willing to negotiation, but their demands will be so completely outrageous that even the most liberal Senator would never agree to them.

Just to get into the 'mindset of the terrorist' conversation:

Orginizations involved with 'fighting America', have never had better numbers, donations and desire to fight. With America sitting out of the Middle East, they loose much 'buying power' among those they wish to recruit.

It would be much easier to recruit those who would 'fight the big satan' if the big satan is actually in your backyard.

It's not just terrorist orginizations; look back to the US before we got involved in WWII. The vast majority of the country wanted nothing to do with the war in Europe, and could care less about the war in the far east. Yet, when the fight came to them, volunteers signed up in the hundreds of thousands over night.

So, if obtaining more persons and money for your cause was your goal, then would you not want a president in power who talks of not leaving Iraq unless it is in honor in victory (when honor and victory is not happening any time soon, if at all)?

The arguments that: Terrorists would want Obama because he would not insist on another surge; he would maintain less of a military presense in the Middle East, etc..., is bunk.

'They' want to bleed the beast slowley. The surge, Iraq, Afghanistan...as long as the war drags out they, at least in some sense, are winning their fight.

Once again, HAMAS NEVER FLEW AIRPLANES INTO AMERICAN BUILDINGS KILLING THOUSANDS! The Taliban and Osama Bin Laden, who support McCain/Palin, did. HAMAS never beheaded AMerican reporters, The Taliban who support McCain, have. HAMAS has never started two wars in the Middle East unlike the people who support McCain/Palin. So keep screaming HAMAS while Osama Bin Laden gets his man in office, John McCain. And Spines MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY! And what everyone at works says. That AQ and OBL NEED McCain in office. With out the wars how will they recruit? Like how would the USA recruit people to fight in WWII without Pearl Harbor? How would Bush recruit without 9/11? How would OBL recruit without McCain screaming "Kill the brown people for the next hundred years!"
