found this link on yahoo'e election '08 page. What does this mean? It's worth a read.

Looks like people claiming Obama will bring socialism just may be true.

The mainstream media thought that the membership of Todd Palin, who is not a candidate for any office, in the Alaska Independence Party important enough to report in such outlets as the Los Angeles Times, MSNBC, and the New York Times, among others. So now that Barack Obama's membership in the far left New Party has been unearthed, will they report his membership in that Socialist organization? Proof of Obama's membership in the New Party was discovered by the Politically Drunk On Power blog: In June sources released information that during his campaign for the State Senate in Illinois, Barack Obama was endorsed by an organization known as the Chicago "New Party". The 'New Party' was a political party established by the Democratic Socialists of America (the DSA) to push forth the socialist principles of the DSA by focusing on winnable elections at a local level and spreading the Socialist movement upwards. The admittedly Socialist Organization experienced a moderate rise in numbers between 1995 and 1999. By 1999, however, the Socialist 'New Party' was essentially defunct after losing a supreme court challenge that ruled the organizations "fusion" reform platform as unconstitutional.

I talked to my dad on the phone today. He is a grizzled retired cop. I told him I was voting for Obama and he screamed "he's a communist and a socialist!" He dislikes McCain but sees him as the lesser evil, even though he won't say that directly, he hates McCain with a passion.

My pops has guns stocked. He says "the economy is going to take a dump." Fun/funny to here him go on and on about how terrible established politicians are.

I know people seem to be saying that others are throwing the world socialism around with Obama. Well what is this? I don't know exactly what this party stands for, but to have Socialist in it's name is quite a shocker to me.

heres another quote from the article:

About 50 activists attended the Chicago New Party membership meeting in July. The purpose of the meeting was to update members on local activities and to hear appeals for NP support from four potential political candidates. The NP is being very active in organization building and politics. There are 300 members in Chicago. In order to build an organizational and financial base the NP is sponsoring house parties. Locally it has been successful both fiscally and in building a grassroots base. Nationwide it has resulted in 1000 people committed to monthly contributions. The NP's political strategy is to support progressive candidates in elections only if they have a concrete chance to "win". This has resulted in a winning ratio of 77 of 110 elections. Candidates must be approved via a NP political committee. Once approved, candidates must sign a contract with the NP. The contract mandates that they must have a visible and active relationship with the NP. The political entourage included Alderman Michael Chandler, William Delgado, chief of staff for State Rep Miguel del Valle, and spokespersons for State Sen. Alice Palmer, Sonya Sanchez, chief of staff for State Sen. Jesse Garcia, who is running for State Rep in Garcia's District; and Barack Obama, chief of staff for State Sen. Alice Palmer. Obama is running for Palmer's vacant seat.

Will Fox news repot McCain's political affiliation with a woman who was sentenced for shooting an abortion clinic doctor, a woman whose judge stated was a "terrorist"?

America is already socialized, at least in the corporate sense.

Get on board, comrade!

I think Palin's parents have enough bears and other assorted creatures:

Yep, and that's why corporate america is a freakin mess right now. Anything the government gets it's hands in is usually screwed up.

It's funny to see the usual suspects come out on this one.

It's perfectly fine with them to dig into Todd Palin's involvement with the Alaskan group, but this is off limits. Digging into Obama's involvement in a group like this is only another example of how we are all ignorant racists.

It's really quite comical.

soooo, what's so bad about socialism anyway? Hese's the breakdown:

* Rich hate the idea (by the way these are the people who's voices we hear the loudest via MSM)

* Poor love the idea (these people have no voice, as MSM ignores them)

* Middle Class tend to dislike the ides becuas they are MSM zombies (even though socialism would leave their lives pretty much unchanged when it comes to social order/class)

Exactly!! And what gets me......Todd and Sarah both support and approve of THEIR SON going to war for the US. Yeah, they hate the United States so much that they would send their son out to die for it. It's ridiculous.

Except that they did not SEND their sons. Their sons ENLISTED. Also, it is a broad assumption to say they were sent off to DIE. I bet they don't get anywhere near a real combat zone....reminiscent of when it was in the news abour Prince Charles son being over there....YEAH RIGHT! Like he saw or even got close to any action.

Comical indeed! The "new party" is described as an electoral "pressure group" of Dems. It's interests inlcude issues like living wages and affordable housing.

It's a far cry, therefore, from a radical movement like Palin is associated with, saying that "she can only hope she doesn't have to kill" while fighting with Federal govt.

So dig all you want. Palin's husband is a traitor to the Union, she prepares speeches for them, and you are trying to sling mud at Obama for his take on affordable housing. Quite comical.

Wait. So you're saying that because he is the son of the governor of Alaska, that the military is going to shield him from combat?

I'm sorry...I just....

No ones slinging mud, these are facts.

Plans like Obama's that pushed this socialistic "affordable housing" is what led to our current financial state as well.

The overlying point is that Obama now has physical ties to Socialism. Something which his campaign and his supporters have denied.

Yep, and they yelled at him all the way to the recruiter too. Prince Charles son was pulled because he was a threat to his fellow soldiers. Why was he a threat? Because the media let the whole world know that he was in there. There is always the possibility of death in war, you know that. Both McCain, Palin, and Biden all have children serving the military. Much was made of it at the time.

www.telegraph.co.uk... er.html

www.npr.org...

For security reasons, the military will not disclose the locations in Iraq where Palin and Biden will serve. Pentagon officials and members of their units all say that the men will be treated like any other soldier or Marine.

I don't see anything wrong with housing being affordable. In some areas it's all but impossible to get. What happens as a result you have apartments CRAMMED with illegal immigrants who take over the local job market, because the rest of us won't live like that.

And that is the way Republicans want us to be -- impoverished slaves.

Again, Palin is palling with a radical and potentially violent group in Alaska.
Affordable housing is zelch compared to that.

Yes, there is always a risk of death during any war,YOU BETCHA! But I doubt we will see any of them making the rounds door to door. Nor will we see them in a forward area where a higher probability exists of one of them taking a bullet. And YES, I do believe they are/will be given special treatment due to their parents political fame. Politics spills over into military missions....I guarantee it!

I saw where it said he was endorsed by this group and that he attended at least one meeting but must have missed where it said he was a member. Did I miss that? Not that I personally care either way but just for the sake of accuracy...

And Obama palled around with Ayers after his comments on 9/11. Hillary Clinton mentioned this in the primaries. Your own VP nominee said Obama was not qualified to be president. He has also said that he'd love to be McCain's running mate if asked.
