U.S. bank failures almost certain to increase in next year

www.cnn.com

Here's a safe bet for uncertain times: A lot of banks won't survive the next year of upheaval despite the U.S. government's $700 billion rescue plan to restore order to the financial industry.

Well aint that a kick in the pants! I am glad that we rushed this bailout through when it almost certainly won't avert this disaster. Why was congress blackmailed into choosing between that bill and "economic armageddon"(their term)? Why weren't they given time to actually work out a real solution instead of just pilfering 700 billion from the tax payers?

This is just maddening at this point.

If we aren't bent over a barrel now, I would hate to see what it is going to feel like when it actually happens. Man, we are getting screwed right now.
