2008 Presidential Candidate Platform Discussion

As a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senator Obama has fought to strengthen America's position in the world. Reaching across the aisle, Obama has tackled problems such as preventing the spread of weapons of mass destruction and stopping the genocide in Darfur.

I am hopeful in Obama. He brings a new breath of life into the system.

Unfortunately, as with any candidate who does not want to go out on limbs he is vague at best.

Not surprisingly, its how they do.

In Europe we are hoping for Obama to win the elections - @ least the majority is.

The way Bush presented the US - stating you are either with us or against us - did not leave much room for foreign politics.
We believe that Obama will bring back the power of negotiations table rather than the treath of war

Expect more of the same. Do you really think the criminals in the military industrial complex who make trillions of dollars would allow someone they don't control to get into the Presidency? Laughable.

If you want to know Obama on foreign policy, it is important to know the brain behind him. Who is that brain? Zbigniew Brzezinski

I'm not the only one saying Zbig is Obama's brain. MSNBC, the Economist and many others agree.

Brzezinski was the mentor to Obama while they were both at Columbia University (Obama attended from 1981-1983).

Who is Brzezinski?

Once a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, Co-founder of the Trilateral Commission (with David Rockefeller) and frequent guest of the Bilderberg Conferences.

National Security Advisor during the Carter administration.

In an interview, Zbigniew Brzezinski, President Carter’s National Security Adviser, admits that it was US policy to support radical Islamists to undermine Russia. He admits that US covert action drew Russia into starting the Afghan war in 1979. Asked if he has regrets about this, he responds, “Regret what? That secret operation was an excellent idea. It had the effect of drawing the Russians into the Afghan trap and you want me to regret it? The day that the Soviets officially crossed the border, I wrote to President Carter: We now have the opportunity of giving to the USSR its Vietnam war.” Then he is asked if he regrets “having given arms and advice to future terrorists,” and he responds, “What is most important to the history of the world? The Taliban or the collapse of the Soviet empire? Some stirred-up Muslims or the liberation of Central Europe and the end of the Cold War?” The interviewer then says, “Islamic fundamentalism represents a world menace today.” But Brzezinski responds, “Nonsense! It is said that the West had a global policy in regard to Islam. That is stupid. There isn’t a global Islam….” [Le Nouvel Observateur (Paris), 1/15/1998]

Brzezinski also endorsed covert Chinese aid to Cambodia’s Pol Pot, leader of the Khmer Rouge regime that was responsible for the deaths of up to 2 million in Cambodia through execution, starvation and forced labor.

From Wikipedia:

The executed were buried in mass graves. In order to save ammunition, the executions were often carried out using hammers, axe handles, spades or sharpened bamboo sticks. Some victims were required to dig their own graves; their weakness often meant that they were unable to dig very deep.

China and the US sustain the Khmer Rouge with overt and covert aid in an effort to destabilize Cambodia’s Vietnam-backed government. With US backing, China supplies the Khmer Rouge with direct military aid. Zbigniew Brzezinski, national security adviser during the administration of President Carter, will later acknowledge, “I encouraged the Chinese to support Pol Pot…. Pol Pot was an abomination. We could never support him, but China could.”

Obama has threatened to expand the U.S. lead ‘war on terror’, into Pakistan:

Pakistan is located in central Asia, a region of great interest to Zbigniew Brzezinski for decades

If you really want to understand Obama you must understand Brzezinski.

Two important books which will help you understand Brzezinski is Between Two Ages and The Grand Chessboard.

Expect him to try and expand NATO even more in order to surround Russia and China. That is one of the main goals in The Grand Chessboard.

Obama and McCain are not fundamentally different on foreign policy as illustrated in this short youtube clip.

Obama is asking Germany to send more troops to Afghanistan, while avoiding the issue much of the time in the US. He isn't anti-war, only anti-whatever war is getting the most negative press.

Don't be fooled. Do your own research, pleeeeease.

Although he is a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, one might ask if he is active in the Committee, or if he relies upon his staff to provide his information - Is he too busy trying to win an election?
