I find anyone who makes a decision based on ideology to be misguided. That is, instead of actually thinking things through on your own, running to the little "party playbook" in your head and asking, "what am I SUPPOSED to think?" When people put ideology first -- either right or left -- they are basically "outsourcing thinking," which means turning their free will and free judgement over to another. This is an obscene abuse of what it means to be human and to have free will and the ability to make your own judgement.

This happens both on the left and on the right, but my impression is that in recent years in the US its much more common on the right. I think the Republicans today are mostly motivated not only by intellectual laziness but also by a desire to be seen as "tough" and "winners." You can see their befuddled thinking as something along the following lines: "I wanna be a big strong tough guy who likes guns and #, and/or I wanna be a rich business guy. I'm not like one of those tye-dye hippies, those guys are weak and faggy. I'm strong and tough and someday I'm gonna be a millionare, you'll see. I can feel it in my bones I'm destined to be rich, famous, have a big mansion and a ton of cars and stuff."

You can see the Republicans have cleverly manipulated these desires and people are voting not based on a realistic understanding of who they are but based on who they WANT TO BE, in some kind of twisted money/guns/porno fantasy (with maybe a side-helpin' of Good ole God, Mom, and Apple Pie for the more wholesome and traditional). This is what has happened after decades of weakining of the more rigorous habits of mind: schooling, reading, rational thought, scientific awareness, etc. All that is falling by the wayside and people are subscribing to some kind of warped grand-theft-auto thug/billionare in a penthouse fantasy of themselves and reacting that way.

There are no retarded Republicans.
There are no retarded Democrats.
There is, however, a large fraction of ignorant hypocritical americans. Most of them seem to be among the Republicans.

Seriously, this is heading towards civil war... those ``republicans`` are nutjobs hardcore brown shirts while the others ``democrats`` are mostly good, but mislead and won't stand for the republican shiat 4 more years.

You should let states seceed and divide the US in two. Or you change the political system from a presidential one to a proportionnal parlementary one where the sane minority can have a voice.

I support members of both parties... Paul on the republican side and Kucinich on the democratic side. They both are in different parties, and even if I disagree with each on certain points, I respect them because they have integrity and want justice.

Im just curious, as your wording seems a little different. No American that I know of, liberal or conservative, believes in any form of parliamentary system being implemented.

My entire problem with this red/blue state ra ra dem rep thing is...it does not at the end of the day mean a spit in the wind. They are ALL bought and sold by pacs and special interests. Do I think OUR best hope is Obama. Yes. The only good politicians are recently elected ones who are still wet behind the ears, until worms start eating there brains.
