It appears a few unscrupulous people are not satisfied with just running a smear campaign against Governor Palin, but have gone as far as to post her social security number. Apparently the same thing happened to Michael Steele back in 2005.

The Politico has received an opposition research file from the Alaska Democrats. You can read it in PDF here.

In the file, the Democrats have released Sarah Palin's social security number minus the last four digits. Also tied to the information are her various home addresses.

Back in 2005, Democrats used Michael Steele's social security number to get his credit record.

It is atrocious that the Democrats would not only seek out Sarah Palin's social security number, but release it in opposition research to the press.

We need to know who did this. We also need to know what happened. We also need to know if it was used to bolster the Democrats' opposition research.

When it happened to Michael Steele, it turns out the Democrats knew about it and did nothing.

They cannot not take action now.

Outrageous, but not surprising. The Dem's are in a state of panic right now and will stop at nothing.

Circle of Corruption is still alive and kicking.

"It's amazing how much panic one honest man can spread among a multitude of hypocrites." -Thomas Sowell

I thought your signature bore repeating. It certainly seems applicable in this case, that's for sure. The left seems to have taken a flying leap into the deep end of the pool over Palin. Its like watching a third of the country have a simultaneous nervous breakdown as they attempt to tear her and her family down.

They're showing the entire country that there's absolutely no level of filth that they won't stoop to in order to win this election.

What's missing from the above quote is that it was one person who released all the information. The person who did so had nothing to do with the Obama campaign. I'm certainly not condoning it in anyway no matter WHO did it though. Almost sounds like "sour grapes" on the part of the person who released it.

Politico Article

Democrat Tony Knowles, her opponent in the 2006 Alaska gubernatorial race, put together a detailed, 63-page research document -- obtained by Politico -- cataloging Palin's strengths and weaknesses. And the Obama campaign, in particular, knows Palin well: A key Obama consultant, Anita Dunn, worked on Knowles' campaign.

...The Democratic opposition research document, which was not obtained from Dunn or from the Obama campaign, is largely a catalog of the day-to-day decisions of a small-town mayor.

We'll know soon enough who's involved. The same thing was done to Michael Steele back in 2005 when he was running for Senate. In his case it was linked back to Senator Chuck Shumer, Chair of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.

I guess that's why they ask people to put appropriate tags on their posts to make them easier to search for..

Better late than never though. I can't sit on the forum all day unfortunately, so a few items get by me now and again.

It's just a sign of their desperation. They have an inexperienced presidential candidate, and a VP select that keeps putting his foot in his mouth. People in the know, are taking bets on what Biden's next verbal train wreck will be.

Nah, desperation is spinning the situation to imply that 5 digits equates to her social security number. A social security number consists of nine digits; and, unless they released the full nine, Dems did not release her social security number.

As I said, there will be an investigation, and then we will know all the facts.

In Steele's case, the perpetrator got 18 months for identity theft.

You guys really should read the accompanying links. Especially the Politico.com links. :shk: You're making fools of yourselves.

I find it really funny how you're all talking about how desperate the democrats are, when the republicans are obviously the ones scurrying around doing damage control.
Just look at the amount of pro-Palin/anti-Biden threads started in the last couple of days. If that doesn't smell like desperation I don't know what does...

And by the way isn't a social security number completely useless unless you have the last four digits?
