I don't think so, not really a news item, but interestign find...Reading now.

It certainly is a plausible story. An inexpensive means of covering up illegal intelligence gathering. I definitely wouldn't disregard the Us of doing somethign like that, I personally feel the US government is willing to step on anyone to get what they want.

Also though, does anyone blame them if this is true? It is certainly far too tempting to get a peak up the "enemies" skirt, not to. I also believe that if they don't have control of the objects they put in space and one lands in my backyard, I think it should be mine...after all it could ahve killed someone.

With regard to the Kecksburg incident, from the witness accounts I've seen along with the probe data, I believe it was merely the soviet satellite.

If the incident were to happen today, nearly 40 years later, no more cold-war context, they may readily admit to the capture of a soviet satellite.

As for other incidents, as in the Rendlsham forest, I doubt it was a military charade.

Each such incident should be debated on its own merits.
