Vladimir Putin has accused the US that the entire conflict in South Ossetia was a result of US citizens' provocations, who took orders from their political leaders. Their aim, to help promote a US presidential candidate's election.

So US citizens trained and armed Georgian rebels to fight off Moscow? How this would be beneficial to the election campaign of any one US presidential candidate is beyond me. Do you see any plausible implications of such a scheme, if it were true? Putin seems to be a greater conspiracy theorist than some on these boards.
