BEIJING, Aug 28 (Reuters) - China said it was "concerned" about Russia's volatile quarrel with Georgia after Moscow recognised the disputed regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia as independent entities.

By recognizing South Ossetia and Abkhazia, Russia may have inadvertently rubbed China the wrong way, especially considering China's feelings about the "breakaway province" of Taiwan.

The issue of Taiwan and Uighur separatists are of supreme importance to the PRC. Both Kosovo and now South Ossetia/Abkhazia have set dangerous precedents, ones that I can imagine are completely unacceptable to the People's Republic of China.
