how do you do that?
basicaly he was retarded not to say anything at the time
and now just regrets it everyday and cant forget about the bird.

what should i tell him?

That's tough, I'm not sure you ever really forget if they were special (I don't).

I'm certainly no expert but, time and finding another one seems to help quite a bit.

the only thing that is irreplaceable is the loss of a beloved pet, human beings come and go, TIME CURES ALL!!!

The only special thing in other people are our ideas about them, ideas change over time as well...
