However, if you think about it, many of those old pagan celebrations were formed for specific reasons that dealt with the cycles of nature...For
example, the slaughtering of animals to ensure stocks of meat for the winter, would not be neccesary in more modern times. The meat industries have
eliminated the need for most people to *have* to perform such actions at a *certain time of year*, because the meat is now pretty much equally
available throughout the course of the year.
Those "old timers" had to follow the cycles of nature (Which *is* the basis of most pagan practices) *much* more closely than most people do
today...Granted, the people today who stick with agricultural professions still need to observe the growing seasons, but then again, there's a much
lower *percentage of the population* that need to do so in modern times.
...Which is why many of the oldest traditions have become outdated & have lost their original meanings to most modern-day folk.
