Power surges in uk yesterday

Did anyone else loose power yesterday? Im in coventry and the electric was flickering on and off like it was surging but didnt actually cut out for more than a few seconds at a time.
All the alarms in our area went off, strange....maybe we are running out of electric and this is the start of a shortage?
This happened about 1.30 am and happened about ten times.

LHC?
That was supposed to be today, right?
I can't access the countdown site any more, but I'm sure I heard the 10th.

Mine has been flickering for a couple of days, I'm in Scotland. I put it down the the heavy rain. Interesting you experienced it the other side of the country.
