Scientists Question FBI Probe On Anthrax

www.washingtonpost.com

Ivins Could Not Have Been Attacker, Some Say

For nearly seven years, scientist Bruce E. Ivins and a small circle of fellow anthrax specialists at Fort Detrick's Army medical lab lived in a curious limbo: They served as occasional consultants for the FBI in the investigation of the deadly 2001 anthrax attacks, yet they were all potential suspects.

Some very odd observations are brought forth here. I will admit that my first thoughts when I heard this story was that this suicide may not be a suicide.

I would contend that the case is most certainly NOT closed if they never charged him. This 'lawyer speak' of him being 'about to be indicted' is just that. Tell me, why would you know you were 'about' to be indicted?

That's something that must come out of this journalist's work. I hope they don't back away from it. The prosecution STILL MUST make it's case, unless the judicial process is corrupt. Just because you can intimidate and emotionally extort people into desperation doesn't mean they did anything wrong.

If you dig deep enough don't you know deep down inside, in the depths of your conscience, that the FBI was attempting to push him. It feels like they wanted him alive, near weapons, and angry. This goes back to D Rummy's plan to provoke terrorists into attacking if you ask me.

This is waaay too convenient if you ask me. For years, we hear nothing. Then all of the sudden, in a two week span we get one scientist winning a lawsuit against the gov on this case and another scientist that "kills himself". We hear absolutely nothing for years, but now that this guy is dead, we are supposed to believe that the case is closed?

Too convenient.

Exactly what I have been thinking. But why even bring it up at all? Why not just let everyone forget?

Maybe it is a reaction to the other scientist winning his lawsuit. Combined with Bush coming to the end of his legacy, so perhaps the lawsuit was the catalyst to push them into closing this out?

Obviously just wild speculation though.

I have a hunch there is something that we're not seeing, that will play itself out in the future though. Then we will refer to this case as evidence behind the truth of that future something, only to be called wacko CT's connecting dots where there is no bigger picture.

yeah. way fishy.

wild speculation could be they want to distract people from something else that's going on (as you may be alluding to).

it could also be that there will be another anthrax attack blamed on the terrists and an additional tidbit will come out that ivins sold it to them.

it could also be that he was going to talk and they're worried he left some letters or recordings.

why not let them forget, indeed. i'd also speculate that fully half the people in the u.s. probably still believe and even after this will still believe the islamofacist terrists did the attacks.

The new genome technology used to track down Ivins was either not available or too expensive to use often until about three years ago.

AP Article

This is my biggest problem. Which is it? Was the technology available, was it too expensive or are they throwing out terms that the average joe will not question because it's beyond them?

I find option one, that it was unavailable, hard to believe. This technology is not new by any means & even if it this particular test was just in the beginning phases at the time, the goverment would of utilized it rather than waiting for it to be perfected.

Option two is that it was too pricey. I'm sorry,I just don't buy it. This was a huge case that they wanted solved & no expense would of been too great if it meant a solid lead.

IMO, this man is an all too convenient fall guy for this. From what his colleagues said, they were all under intense scrutiny for several years & this guy just happened to be the one that was pushed to the brink by it all. Had it been any of the other scientists who began to show an emotional breakdown, then I bet their name would be inserted in all this. The only thing this mess proves to me is what the government is capable of .
