Its not his race that bothers me, but instead his past of hatred of "white folks".

i'm troubled by obama and his wife's hatred of "whitey" as well. you see over and over again how dangerous subversives can transform themselves into "reasonable looking" people to try to get into the inside and do damage. look at how malcolm x tried to come off as calm cool and collected even though he was one of the most dangerous men in the country. other black panther murderers and terrorists managed to break into the mainstream. one of them even became a professor at a prestigious law school. these people are very very good at learning how to blend in, so we have to look to their past actions before they learned how to deceive so effectively to see what they will really be like and see their true colors.

Of course this is about race.

Several posters have stated that they are voting for him cause he's black.

90% of african - americans that voted for him cause he's black too - some one posted this too.

So, I have a problem.

If I don't vote for him - am I a racist? - cause I'm white..

and those who are going to vote for him because he's black - is that racist?

Well, if your black and your gonna vote for him cause he's black and it's not racist,

Than if your gonna vote against him and your not black it can't be racist either.

Well I'm not voting against him cause he's black, I'm voting against him cause I don't like his funny ears !!!!!!

You're an earist!

Of course the answers to your questions depend on who's defining "racist". I am not worried about how race plays into it. Racism exits and there are going to be people who refuse to vote for him because he's black. There are also those who will vote FOR him solely because he's black. That's just America.

The neat thing is that he's even a candidate. That's a huge step. Not because he's black, but it's an indication of how many in this country are progressing toward a mindset of equality for ALL Americans. And that's cool!

I cant beleive the unbelievable racism on his SUPPORTERS side. Its stunning to someone who actually judges people on their character and not their skin color. So no, its never been an issue with me.

It does bother me that hes using his skin color to inoculate himself from criticism.

Just like there will be people who vote who simply because hes black.

Whats really sad is, you don't seem to realize that all humans deal with prejudice and racism. Thus, he isn't special. The problem with people like you, is that you want to elevate black people, by making them the focal point of "white people's" hate.

Someday you guys will realize this, but until than you're simply part of the problem.

I'd also like to point out another example of Obama supporters extenuating his blackness when it suits them.

I can't vote, I live in the UK, but if I did then I'll echo several other peoples sentiments. I'd vote for Obama because it would piss a lot of right wing arseholes off.
I was the same with the fox hunting ban. I didn't give a crap about foxes, I supported the ban because I knew it would annoy a large number of over privileged arseholes.

I personally think this is a perfectly valid stance to take. Look at the world, look at the people you dislike and vote for whatever's going to annoy them the most.

Race? Not a bit! If I agree with the candidate's political ideology then it doesn't matter to me what skin color he or she has. I'd be all over Colin Powell as president in a heartbeat; same goes for Clarence Thomas (if he ever decided to step down from being a Supremo judge and seek presidency). Condoleeza - mmmmm, I dunno. I'd have to see where she stands on the issues. There are a few things about her I question.

Obama? Doesn't matter to me what his skin color is, but his political stands I can't agree with. The big ones to me are supporting partial-birth abortion, his take on the energy crisis and his desire to legalize illegal immigrants, not to mention supporting cap and trade and being a Democrat (who have always raised taxes for the middle class after being sworn in).

Maybe if you actually read my post?

I don't? Please, tell me more about me... As a woman, I don't have any idea what it's like to deal with prejudice. As a woman who dated and nearly married a black man, I have no concept of racism... Please tell me more about me and what I don't realize... /s

I do? Wow... I didn't know that about me, Dronetek... Thanks for telling me about my problems. Please tell me more about how I want to elevate black people so I can hate them more...

What?

Again, qualifying your answer by being a woman and marrying a black man. As if its alien to me, a white guy. That's your problem. You obviously don't realize it, but you have a very "us vs them" racist attitude. In your world, black people are the sole victims of a campaign to get them because their skin is black.

The reality is, we all deal with prejudice, but some of us use it as a crutch.

No. Honestly, I could care less. I would vote for Condi no problem. I hate his left wing ideas, and his constant flip flopping to make the media happy. he honest to God makes me want to puke when he talks about his agenda. He is a typical coward and young democrat.

His race doesn't bother me at all.
What bothers me is that many people are using his race as the biggest qualifier for why he should be President, moreso over his experience.

Now it seems people have two choices, either drink the koolaid or risk being labeled a racist.

No! It never got that far. Obama being an extreme Liberal Democrat who was sworn in as a senator with his hand on the Karran and his lack of patritotism for this country was enough for me! He is about as fake as imatation crab meat! McCain all the way!

Sorry buddy you are mistaken. It was Keith Ellison (MN) who was sworn on on the Koran, because he is Muslim.

Obama swore on the Bible because he is Christian.

BTW, what does it matter?

freedom is not defined by just voting for the 2 that is running.

I am writing in Ron Paul with a big sharpie if i have to, -nuff said

Since NONE of those are true, I USED to think that obviously, his race is the problem.

Actually, some of those are true, to varying degrees.

Obama probably isn't a practicing Muslim, but he was born into the faith and studied it as a child.

I'm not sure if he's wearing the stupid pin now or not, but he did make a point of not wearing it in the past.

He most assuredly is a socialist. Just listen to his policy proposals!

Hey Sos, I think I responded to you on another thread concerning these issues...You and he share a similiar stance on partial birth abortions and Cap and Trade is supported by BOTH McCain and Obama. On illegal immigration..The only difference I see is that McCain is leaving his plan conveniently vague, but in the past has said that he supported illegal immigrants staying?

www.azcentral.com...

Obama: He supports letting the nation's 12 million illegal immigrants earn the right to stay and eventually become citizens as long as they adhere to a set of rules, fines and other prerequisites.

McCain: He has supported allowing illegal immigrants to earn the right to stay but now is less specific on how he would deal with them. Once border security was achieved, he would favor reforms that were "compassionate" but also reflected the needs of the economy.

Any good capiltalist democracy needs soclialist elements to balance out the power between the "fellow workers" and the "fellow bosses"

We need more socialists like Mother Jones in this country.

Fathom, that is an insult to rednecks.

Back on topic, I'm still unsure on whether or not I want to vote for McCain or do a write-in. I most assuredly will not be voting for Obama though. It has nothing to do with his skin color, as it truly wouldn't matter to me if the two of them were green and fuchsia. What does matter to me is his voting record. My political views are typically more in line with Democrats than republicans, but his voting record, and lack thereof on several important issues, is a big reason why I will not vote for him.

He voted no on denying legal status for immigrants convicted of certain crimes and barring immigrants with certain criminal convictions. Personally I think we have enough criminals here without letting in more. And there is his complete lack of voting on several other issues or voting present, which is the same as not voting. Not to mention his whopping 4 years experience being a senator.

Then there are his connections with racist and radical individuals, and his wife's utter loathing of our country. Perhaps it's just me, but I don't want someone in the office who has surrounded themselves with racists and radicals who would love nothing more than to completely destroy our country.

McCain may not be the perfect candidate either, but I would much rather have someone with years of experience and few if any ties to radicals and racists.

I just would like to interrupt to point out that Obama isnt "black" he is actually mixed race white and black. But since he more brown than pink I guess its ok to say he is black?

Anyways, Id vote for him regardless of race, he really cares about the people of America more than the pockets of the corporates.
