ABC NEWS

According to ABC news, Obama spent a three week college spring break in PAKISTAN.
Karachi to be exact. The Obama camp doesn’t deny this and says that he went there with a college friend (or to visit with a college friend?).

Pakistan in 1981 was under Marshall Law, wasn’t it?
Pretty sure it was

I wonder if the USA had travel warnings to Pakistan during this time.
State dept info
more info
I’m looking through documents trying to find historical info for that time period.

I don’t know too many 20 year old American college students who would take their Spring Break in an Islamic country during a violent Marshall Law situation. What does a young man of 20 years of age do for fun in Islamic Marshall-Law ruled Pakistan in 1981?

BTW .. when listing his 'vast' foreign experience, Obama DOES claim these three weeks of college spring break as part of why he has better international experience then McCain.

There was a story recently about American kids that were being held against their will in Karachi madrassa schools. Barack attended a Madrassa too as a child and was a star pupil according to his teachers in the learnings of the Koran.

Two American Children Escorted from Taliban Madrassa by American Consulate in Karachi for Flight to NYC"Karachi Kids"

Documentary Spurs Action(July 10 -- Atlanta, GA) - Two American children were escorted by the American consulate officers in Karachi, Pakistan Tuesday night Pakistan time and boarded a flight to Dubai, UAE and then boarded a direct flight to NYC, Noor Elahi Khan and Mahboob Elahi Khan are expected to arrive in Atlanta on a Delta flight this afternoon at 4:30 PM.

The two brothers have been in a Pakistani madrassa for four years and are the focus of a newly released documentary entitled "The Karachi Kids".

"I have been working for months to secure their exit from the Madrassa and from Pakistan," said Imran Raza, writer, director and executive producer of the Karachi Kids documentary. "This is great news, but we need to get the other American children out of there, now. There are nearly 80 other Americans currently at this Jamia Binoria madrassa -- that teaches Deobandism -- the religion of the Taliban. Our government, and the Pakistani government, has more work to do to get the other American children out of there

Ummm... What's your point?
What is the problem with him visiting with a friend there? Sorry, I don't get the problem.

And I don't see anywhere that he was there for "Spring Break"...

Lloyd, the madrassa think has been debunked a thousand times.

Oh! I forgot BH.. When you and your forum crew decide something has been debunked, it's a non-issue anymore.. How silly of me.

Where did you see that I said 'this is a problem'?? No where.
It COULD be. But at this time it doesnt' seem to be.

It's in the news. I find it interesting. Others may as well.

Also - Obama himself has ADVERTISED that he was there.
He's claiming this is part of his foreign experience that is
superior to McCains.

And I don't see anywhere that he was there for "Spring Break"...

This is the term that the news is using. It was during a college break so they are calling it 'Spring Break in Pakistan'. I didn't pick the title ... I just put the same title as what is being used on the TV news.

Edited immediately for spelling error.

Well considering that Pakistan didn't do 9/11 but the US and Israel did, I would worry about other things.
A madrassa is a spiritual school.
Some Madrassa's are like your right wing christian schools, madrassa's exist in the UK as well and nobody bothers to close them down, because they are schools.

I wish poeple here stopped talking about muslims in the way their "apparently" hated propagandist media depicts them.
Americans you need to heal...9/11 was an inside job and your media knew it.
Your goverment murdered thousand of Americans and blamed mulsims depicting them as dangerous terrorists.

Follow these links and all the proof you will ever need is there for you to see.
For christ sakes you have thousands of nukes and # loads of money yet you beleived that a bunch of mulsims living in caves were a danger to you...
Have you seen the state of Afghanistan?
One of the poorest countris in the world, trigger happy america invades and bombs the crap out of them because....they are a danger.
Come on these Obama threads are just spam, courtesy of the same people that concocted 9/11.

A friend of mine went to Karachi (in the Navy) and hated it.(would have been in this same time period)
Not exactly a friendly place for a white infidel.
He came to the opinion that he would rather talk to a Camel, then the human inhabitants.
If you were a Muslim, it might be a friendly place to visit.

You're joking right? Anyone who posts a thread that does put Barack Obama in a positive light must have been involved in the 9/11 attacks?

As I have said before I do not believe that these threads and posters are necessarily "real".
In a forum well rehearsed with the 9/11 conspiracy theory it is strange that muslim and Obama bashing is rife.
It is a tactic to demoralise people that don't beleive the propaganda.
In essence...I beleive this forum is being spammed for propaganda purposes to demoralise people.
Propaganda spam, courtesy of the same poeple that brought you 9/11 and blamed men in caves armed with korans.
Pakistan had a woman leader, America didn't, so how come Paks are non human beings?
Why are Paks supposed to be so hateful of women when they loved a woman as a leader?

So, as long as Barack Obama partakes in CHRISTIAN only ceremonies, and dressed "white", you dont have a problem with him, llyod?

Because your problem is

he took part in a ceremony
and he dressed the part

OMG that's funny! I'm not real!!

I'm going to have to tell my husband that I'm just a fantasy girl for him! He'll laugh. I'm sure that if I were just a fantasy he would have imagined me very different ... younger for sure!

Visit my fantasy bucket list . I'm real.

(I can't wait until I'm etherial! Read the opening paragraph .. you'll see why. )

So, who do you believe all these propandist work for? As far as I'm aware, Barack Obama is the only candidate with paid forum gangs who's sole purpose is to disrupt discussions about Barack Obama. Now that's a real conspiracy! When has any other candidate in history stooped to such base tactics?

Andrew,

When have I ever said anything about wanting him to dress in white or attend Christian ceremonies? You need to stop trying to put words in other people's mouths to make a point..

Obama just be gittin' some much needed Muslim R&R.

Those Muslim women who wear veils are no doubt sexy, especially on the beach when they're allowed to go.

Forget Fort Lauderdale, you're already from Haiwaii, how about a pleasent vacation to Pakistan? I agree with BH and don't see the problem either

I would have done what Obama did. I am not religious and I have ties only to my native country. But I would have went to Pakistan if I could. Why? To expand my horizons. There is more in the world then your immediate area, or even Western Euro and N/S America. If you leave the house more often you might find out how much more there truly is in the world.

Expanding your horizens is all well and good. However, this trip was taken to Pakistan in 1981. The radical Islamic country was under Marshall Law.

I have questions and they will never truthfully be answered by Obama.

What exactly did young - 20 year old - men do in Islamic Pakistan in 1981 for fun during Marshall Law?

Did Obama claim his Indonesian Muslim 'roots' while there. He wasn't baptised a christian until the 1990s.

Was there a travel ban by this government at the time? If so .. Obama went in violation of that travel ban.

As was pointed out earlier ... lots of Madrassa and Jihad training went on - and still goes on - in Pakistan. Any brushes with that element??

more right wing conspiracy theories courtesy of the neocons, and you all are suppose to be ahead of this kind of propaganda right?

Fiji has a similar situation at the moment yet we see plenty of tourists heading there, before Burma got plenty of media attention tourist still visited the nation after it fell under military control. Most westerners still visited south africa during the aparthied era!
.

More republican speculation, its like ball, looks complete from the outside but void of anything in the inside.

Keep on posting em propaganda folks, help those poor neo-con men keep their little paws in the whitehouse, help Bush dissappear into the sun. God bless america.

1 - It's a fact that he went to Pakistan at age 20 for a college break. It's not a theory.

2 - Obama admits this and even PUSHES it as part of his 'vast foreign experience' that he claims is bigger and better then McCains.

3 - This isn't from the 'neo-cons' ... it's from ABC news and verified and pushed by OBAMA - who is far left wing.

Try again.

Yes it is, I never denied that. I neither deny other college students visiting the middle east on college break

2 - Obama admits this and even PUSHES it as part of his 'vast foreign experience' that he claims is bigger and better then McCains.

And? Obama made the effort to visit other nations of different cultures most probably to learn and see the many middle eastern tourist sites. I'd say the fact he went to Pakistan during the 80s when there was little interest and knowledge compared to now shows that he is interested in learning about other countries and cultures and seeing it for himself. Tell me what are 20year old kids usually doing at that age?

3 - This isn't from the 'neo-cons' ... it's from ABC news and verified and pushed by OBAMA - who is far left wing.

Look im terribly sorry, I think I got you confused. My reply was your agenda in this thread, your clear agenda to push the "HIS A MUSLIM!!!!" theory and that my friend is neo-con propaganda.

You seem to have this theory that the islamic faith is a "race", well your incorrect. You can be born to a muslim parent/family but that doesnt mean your muslim for ever. You see we live in the USA, a western country that gives you the freedom to choose what belief system you wish to follow. Obama chose to be a christian and he has stated this plenty of times, further more the man is not a practicing muslim, if he does not pray atleast 5 times a day, swear to the Qu'ran and publicly declare himself a muslim, in the eyes of other muslims he is not one.

So let me sum that up for you Flyers fan:

-He is not a muslim
-He chooses not to be a muslim
-The fact that he is not a loyal practicing muslim which you MUST BE in order to be called a muslim is proof enough.
-The islamic faith is not a racial group of any sort, you are not forced to remain a muslim.

Its called choice Flyers fan, something you and your neo-con buddies here dont seem to follow... oh wait (your for ron paul right), oh yes im sure of that

So what?

Pakistan is an ally of the United States, technically. So it shouldn't matter that Obama, who was raised in Indonesia for part of his life, would go to Pakistan while in college. I wonder if, just maybe, he went there for educational reasons.

So we're going to dislike the guy now because he chose to learn more about the world over spring break than go to the beach?
