Survey Shows U.S. Religious Tolerance

Although a majority of Americans say religion is very important to them, nearly three-quarters of them say they believe that many faiths besides their own can lead to salvation, according to a survey by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life.

The findings in this survey surprise me. I thought there was much more inflexibility among the religious than there really is. Will this be reflected in the election in November, and will the religious right still have a major influence on the culture of America?

No comments? I think this is good news after all the stories of intolerance and sometimes abuse we have read or seen. This is evidence that we Americans are more broad-minded than we may appear.
