The Chihuahua was a dog that was bred in and around the region of Chihuahua, Mexico. A Chihuahua in a scuba diving outfit. For some reason, that makes me laugh.

I see it's time for a word lesson! All definitions from www.merriam-webster.com

Racism: 1 : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race 2 : racial prejudice or discrimination

Prejudice: 1: injury or damage resulting from some judgment or action of another in disregard of one's rights; especially : detriment to one's legal rights or claims2 a (1): preconceived judgment or opinion (2): an adverse opinion or leaning formed without just grounds or before sufficient knowledge b: an instance of such judgment or opinion c: an irrational attitude of hostility directed against an individual, a group, a race, or their supposed characteristics.

Discrimination: 1 a: the act of discriminating b: the process by which two stimuli differing in some aspect are responded to differently2: the quality or power of finely distinguishing3 a: the act, practice, or an instance of discriminating categorically rather than individually b: prejudiced or prejudicial outlook, action, or treatment
synonyms see discernment.

Now, can you try and use logic and see why this picture cannot, BY DEFINITION, be "racist"? Prejudiced maybe, but not racist. They aren't synonyms, as so many people like to think. And really, the argument can be made that it isn't even prejudiced, because no one ACTUALLY thinks there is a stereotype of Mexican people dressing Chihuahuas in scuba gear. (Which, having written this, I STILL think is hilarious. It only gets funnier the longer you think about it. )

I do feel where you are coming from. I see a lot of racism on this site, but for the dog thing I can't say because I am not Hispanic and cannot really comment on it. But, I can say some of the captions were geared a little bit towards Hispanic people though.

I think it would be considered racism if it were a dog with a KKK sheet over his head.
