N.Korea invites media to nuclear plant blast

www.cnn.com

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- North Korea is to blow up a key part of its controversial Yongbyon nuclear reactor on Friday.

The destruction of the plant's cooling tower is part of an agreement with the United States aimed at denuclearizing the Korean peninsula in exchange for loosening some restrictions on the highly secretive Communist country.

The North Korean government has invited news organizations, including CNN, to witness the event.

In an interesting change of policy, North Korea appears to be cooperating with requests to dismantle it's nuclear capability in dramatic fashion. The blowing up of a cooling tower on Friday will be purely symbolic but will be quite a show.

I have also heard that there may be some negotiating to officially end the Korean War between the N.Korean and the United States.

So if this continues and N. Korea abandons it's nuclear program, will the Bush administration be hailed for it's handling of the North Koreans, or is this proof that talking to your enemies can bring positive results?
