I just caught my local TV station running a PBS show called "Seeing in the Dark." One of the interesting points in the show involved how some observatories have hooked up remote viewing control to their telescopes & allow amateur astronomers internet access to select specific views to download to their own home computers...Red-lit traffic cams, eat your hearts out! Ah, the wonders of modern technology!

One such remote-controlled observatory mentioned specifically in the show was the New Mexico Skies. I give these links for reference points to get more detailed information.
