Iraqi military: al-Qaida fleeing Mosul

news.yahoo.com

BAGHDAD - Al-Qaida fighters and other Sunni insurgents have largely scattered from the northern city of Mosul in the face of a U.S.-Iraqi sweep, fleeing to desert areas further south, an Iraqi commander said Sunday. He vowed the forces will not allow them to regroup.

The U.S. military said al-Qaida in Iraq was "off-balance and on the run" but remains a very lethal threat, tempering remarks by the U.S. ambassador a day earlier that the terror network was closer than ever to being defeated.

Al-Qaeda in Iraq is beginning to retreat, so do you guys think this is going to be permanent or something else? This is perhaps the best news I have personally heard in days.

Let's see just how much publicity this gets in the MSM in terms of getting covered in the tv reports. That'll show where the bias lies at.

Good news indeed, but how did this story get out?

The libs have been suppressing anything positive about the war that has come out of Iraq for some time now. This, in an effort to continue to paint a negative picture of Bush and a defeat for America.

It's about time the Iraqis have decided to assume the duties and responsibilities they were supposed years ago. One step closer to bringing the troops home.
