This just happened about 15 minutes ago. Start praying for this people. There were already major concerns over the status of the surrounding dams and the death toll was still rising from the first event.

Strong quake aftershock hits southwest China: seismologists

BEIJING, May 18, 2008 (AFP) - A strong aftershock early Sunday rocked the southwest Chinese province that is struggling to recover from a devastating earthquake, the US Geological Survey said.

The 6.0-magnitude aftershock occurred on Sichuan's border with Gansu province, the USGS said, at around 1:08 a.m. (1708 GMT Saturday) at a shallow depth of 10 kilometres (six miles).

It is the latest in a series of aftershocks to rattle the area since a 7.9-magnitude quake hit Monday, leaving tens of thousands of people dead or missing in and around Sichuan.

There were no immediate reports of further damage or casualties.

i noticed a thread predicting an even bigger earthquake for china in june and that was a week before all these started. i sure hope that these aren't a precursor for a monster quake. these are either [huge] after shocks or they are all pre quakes.
i've heard that as quakes hit the world somewhere else on the globe volcano's activate. something like a magma tidal wave blowing out a volcano. keep an eye out for volcano news.

I feel for the Chinese people. My god.

I hope their government helps organize rescue efforts to make them efficient and helpful.

Otherwise, I hope they get out of the way so that the people can.

The sequence of events transpiring lately gives me the feeling that something smells very fishy...
