On Your Dime: Congressmen Lease Luxury Cars

wcbstv.com

NEW YORK (CBS) ― You may not realize it, but members of the House of Representatives can lease a car and have it paid for by you -- the taxpayer. And it's not just the car, but gas, registration, insurance … the works.

And as CBS 2 HD found out, there's no limit on how much they can spend.

Ahh, must be nice there fellas...Glad you can put our hard earned tax-dollars to good use living your luxury lifestyles at our expense!

In the mean time we're out here struggling to PAY FOR A TANK OF GAS, and FOOD...

Congressman Charles Rangel was recently seen getting out of his Cadillac DeVille, which he leases for $774 per month. Then there was Congressman Jose Serrano, getting out of his Buick LaCrosse, which he leases for $317 per month. And how about this one: Congressman Gregory Meeks was recently seen waiting for Congressman John Conyers to step out of Meeks' Lexus LS460, which Meeks leases for $998 per month.

All those leases are picked up by taxpayers through a little-known program available only to members of the House of Representatives.

But,but.......they are working hard to make our lives better. :/

Does this honestly surprise anyone? Kudos to the reporter that got this info out to the public. Our elected officials do not care about the American people no matter which side of the political spectrum they are on!!

There is no political spectrum. There is only one party, the controlling party - it is subdivided and broken into 'teams' all of which are compensated highly to protect the status quo, and provide 'political' entertainment.

We are soon to see one 'news' source with many little units coloring the news so that different people will consume it. There will be one bank with many little 'branches' all feeding the wealth parasite, ...there is already only one kind of citizen that matters, the corporate citizen.

How many mortgages could be paid for with all that money? Rangle's would take care of mine. These crooks driving/riding in these vehicles for mere hours in a day while people and families go homeless and hungry... 24 hours a day.

I'm not suggesting anything to anyone, but it would be nice to see every single one of them lined up and shot.

And they see it coming... why do you think the Sup. Court keeps looking at the 2nd Amendment? It should not even remotely be in question anymore.

Mmmmm.... I bet they're not all leasing fuel efficient "green" vehicles either

Reminds me of a story in one of the online motoring mags recently where one of the journalists was attending an EU meeting on vehicle emissions targets. All these high powered EU delegates deciding what cars we should drive and CO2 emissions levels etc.
The journalist arrived early and sat watching these delegates arriving - all either driven in gas guzzling Limos or driving big powerful BMW's and Mercs. Not a cyclist or public transport user among them.

It's the old story though. We are the enablers, there purely to provide them with whatever they need. Money, lives, we don't matter a jot to them as long as we just provide.
