Al-Qaida No. 2 says 9/11 theory propagated by Iran

news.yahoo.com

CAIRO, Egypt - Osama bin Laden's chief deputy on Tuesday denied a theory that Israel carried out the Sept. 11 attacks and blamed Iran and Shiite Hezbollah for spreading the idea to discredit the Sunni al-Qaida's strike against the U.S.

The comments in a recording posted on an Islamic Web site reflected the increasing criticism by al-Qaida's No. 2 leader Ayman al-Zawahri against Iran. Al-Zawahri has accused Iran in recent messages of seeking to extend its power in the Middle East, particularly in Iraq and through its Hezbollah allies in Lebanon.

This is a interesting read. But I remain unmoved that the 9/11 was carried out with US/israel and sudi arabia. Who knows, is this just bad propaganda against Iran?

To be honest, the first thing that came to my mind is that perhaps Al Qaida really was created by the CIA and now they are being used to continue pushing for the war with Iran.

This is like the WMD's all over again.

Wow! He's starting to sound like an American with those comments

How convenient for the Neocons that the bogeymans number 2 is coming on side to bash Iran too.

IF you needed any more proof Alqaeda is a CIA aspect, your fooling yourself.

It was only days ago Iran suggested 911 falsehoods, now Alqaeda comes out against Iran?

They usually take weeks, MONTHS to counter ANTHING in the public media, all of a sudden in a matter of days they deny israel, iran etc and back up america's claims?

It would serve alqeada better to suggest America were INVOLVED, even if it isnt true, because it would turn SWARMS of the public against them.

If Alqaeda is the great enemy of the USA, why did they just 'ASSIST' them.

You can't view his comments through the "US vs Iran," prism. While we Americans focus (and rightfully so) on the Islamist threat against the US, it is important to keep in mind that there is an internal battle underway with the Islamic world; Sunni vs Shiite.

This battle is what fuels much of the violence in Iraq. Each side has taken the opportunity that our foolish actions in Iran have handed and, under the guise of being "freedom fighters," against Imperialists, they each seek to gain control of Iraq and, then, the rest of the Middle East.

What our brilliant President has done is to plop our troops smack dab in the middle of an Ideological War...one in which we have no part.

Nice to see this guy is able to hold internet Q&As for one; so much for "dead or alive."

Also, pinning the Mossad theory on Iran, now, is really bizarre. This idea was floating around immediately after the attacks and was/is particularly strong in Europe. al Z certainly knows this and so his comments are false, but to what end? Why pin this on Iran, now, when Iran is a US target and is known to support all sorts of dubious radicals in the ME? Nothing here adds up.

Is this some western-generated disinfo, or as said above is AQ really the CIA sockpuppet so many claim?

Hey! I didn't know that the C.I.A. is hiring great actors too!

Come on, guys! It's clear that they want to start a war against Iran. So suddenly Iran became the enemy of the AQ too. What a coincidence.

The only thing that from I afraid that the Bush, Cheney and Olmert's "Zionists & Co. International" is presumably already want to execute a 2nd edition of 911 to prove their rights. The only question is the when...

Asked if there are any women in al-Qaida, the terror leader answered simply: "No." In a follow-up answer, he said: "There are no women in al-Qaida jihadi group, but the women of the mujahedeen are playing a heroic role in taking care of their houses and sons."

How barbaric! Have these people never heard of equal opportunities? I bet they have no one legged, near sighted Gay single parent employees either. They are leaving themselves wide open to charges of discrimination and rightfully so in this enlightened and litigation rampant society.
Gay / Lesbian, disabled and single parent groups should organise protests immediately to try and rectify this shocking lack of equality!

Although the Iranian President made some statements recently, Manar TV (which is what Zawahiri mentions, not the Iran President) started the rumor back in 2001.

The request for questions and the posted questions took place back in Dec. '07. He was supposed to have answered them within days. Instead its taken him several months to respond to the questions that were posted back then.

There are lots of reports starting back in the '80's that Zawahiri has a close relationship with Iran, (including rumors that he was involved with the assassination Anwar Sadat). It has long been proposed that it is Iran that pulls AQ's strings and helps provide funding and weaponry.

It seems that as the U.S. has been continually gathering more and more hard physical evidence of this via captured AQ staff, documents, and weapons in both Iraq and Afghanistan, that this is probably an attempt by AQ to pretend they are not buddies with Iran.

In that light, they assisted Iran and themselves, not the U.S.

Isn't it great that they can have their own website, and even conduct question and answer sessions? Next they'll be doing opinion polls on the presidential election here in America!

This is propaganda against the 9/11 truth movement. It is one of those Rosie O' Donnell type of attempts.

Now if you are a 9/11 truther, you are an al qaida supporting Iran lover, who wants to nuke Isreal and America of the face of the planet.(In the eyes of Faux news, and Neocons alike)

It was not posted on "their own website", it was posted on a supporting website. It is disturbing that there are reported to be 4,000 or so terrorist websites, some of which support AQ, AQIM, Islamic State of Iraq, Taliban, etc. Most of that number though are just blogs or discussion forums like ATS where anyone can post anonymously. They are not hard to find. Just like Jimmy Carter didn't have a hard time finding the Hamas leader for a Q&A session.

Apparently there is some difficulty with the legalities shutting those sites down. Matters concerning freedom of speach are involved. It was only a few days ago that the EU passed actual legislation about criminalizing such posts.

There is an ATS thread about that. Most of the posts about it on that thread decry the removal of the freedom of speach by criminalizing terror posts.

The Q&A sessions by terrorist orgs is not something new. Its been going on for quite some time.

Alqaeda has ruined the lives of Muslims around the globe, Al-Qaeda is the No.1 enemy of Islam and these Sunni (Wahabi) only believe in killing anyone who disagrees with them.

Well, I used to believe as most of us do that Al-Qaeda is nothing but a Division of CIA however it's just nothing more than propaganda, even before the 9/11 they have been killing and victimizing Shiite Muslims all over the World, However West did not take any interest until they posed the threat to them.

Al-Qaeda does not represent the Islam of Prophet Muahmmad rather the Islam of Devil and these are the Muslims who killed grandson of Prophet Muhammad 1400 years back that led to major conflict between the Shiite Muslim and Sunni Muslim, Shiite Muslims since ever have been denouncing and protesting against their brutality which dates back to 1400 years back !!!!! May God Punish all of the Followers of Al-Qadea, and this is not me saying a Shiite Muslim guy but also Moderate-Sunni Muslim also have been victims of these rigid and radical Sunni-Wahabi Militants!!! Whoever disagrees with them they behead him!!!

Either the CIA is getting a lot more dumber and transparent with their propeganda, or people the world are just getting wiser to it, waking up, and no longer biting their BS hook line and sinker...Their desperation is showing, embarassingly so.

This seems way bigger. With Rosie, they connected annoying loud people with the movement. Now they are tying the truth movement to terrorism.

The "truth movement" is in complete denial & disarray I am afraid, and has been very successfully misdirected by disinformation campaigns and hoaxers. Instead of pursuing real leads, they promulgate absurd BS about holographic airplanes and other ridiculous nonsense.

Regardless of whether Al Quaeda had helping hands in the US & Israeli .govs (and I strongly suspect they did), they clearly exist and wish to take credit for the 9/11 attacks. They have a well defined ideology (if not such a well-defined organization) and do not consider themselves to be US puppets.

Of course, maybe they're all just holograms
