what is the gay marriage circus distracting us from?

the whole gay marriage issue has become the biggest thing since Janet's boob (pun intended). I find it interesting that what was an issue that was on the radar but hardly a priority has suddenly leaped into the national conciousness with such a force. now the big question is, what's happening behind our backs while we're all facing the fireworks? what's getting lost in the shuffle that's as important (if not more) than gay marriage?

(this isn't a rhetorical question. I don't know the answer either. I'm curious to know what you all think.)

I think the only thing that the people are not seeing as this goes on is that the government should not evenn have a say in the marriage between any two people. It is a basic freedom and becasue we are so religion based people think they have the right to say people cant marry. Besides that the situation in Haiti or maybe it is the Kerry scandle becasue that sure went away fast after he deined it, but Bush's scandle is still alive.

I think Haiti wouldn't be a big deal anyway, just because people in the US generally don't care much about international news, especially not news from an inconsequential little place like Haiti. (I don't think it's good, but it is true.)
you're right about the Kerry issue, though. one week it was on the cover of the Enquirer (as well as a ton of more legit papers), and then it suddenly went away. I was expecting it to be much bigger of an issue than it turned out to be.

I think what killed the Kerry scandal is primarily the fact that the girl denied the affair with him, it was with someone else.

I know the Clinton stories hung around but that was because one of the two actually said it happened. In this case it seems it was an invention by the Druge report (or at least a reporting of rumor as fact).

true. I had forgotten the story had originated with Drudge. that kind of puts the story under suspicion from the beginning. Drudge gets a hit now and again, but it's buried in a lot of misses.

Gay marriage is a major issue in and of itself. The constant attack by liberals and socialists on the fabric of society to undermine it. Gay marriage is not needed but is really an effort on the part by gays to feel 'normal' like the rest of us. Not that I know anyone that is normal by the way but it is important to those people.

If being gay is a natural expression of creation (eg. god, which we do not know yet btw), then it was done for a reason. You are not meant to be parents or a family unit if you cannot 'produce a family.'

Good efforts on the part of liberals attacking morality and social structure they serve their hidden masters well.
