Are there any Muslims running ATS? Maybe the FBI?

Topic started on 12-4-2008 @ 02:27 PM by The time lord

I thought I'd ask since I keep seeing the Muslim dating agency add on this site. And if some Muslims were in some way running this site, would people feel they should not to speak up in Issues concerning Islam if that was the case? I mean people can get paranoid about secret societies infiltrating this site but even so would they do as much as say an ATS Muslim moderator or programmer who has to put up with Anti-Muslim statements by people or freedom of speech as we call it? Should people be worried or is that discrimination or logic to being to be on the safe side?

So would people be afraid to mention anything Islamic if that was the case? Is that why Britain and America avoid the word Islam when going to free the Muslims from that rule? Do they ever say that it has anything to do with Islam or do they keep using words to cover up and avoid that issue? Would it be bad for political business in the Middle East and is that the plan of being hyper sensative while constructing the whole Middle east with building contracts to build artificial islands in Sauidi Arabia and brand new building designs with Western technology?

I am just wondering how it all works on a social level, guess we in the West are being oppressed through fear and freedom of thought incase things turn out to be fanatical.

Hiyah TimeLord,

I am pretty sure the ads change, a few weeks ago I think it was a Russian mail bride type ad. Since I've been on ATS so far, all the banners and ads change

I am starting to think the internet is not as free minded as it once was, it's becoming a cyber battle ground, call it cyber war and we don't know which direction it might lead. There has been a lot of Chinese hackers who have hacked into the US and the Russians have damaged some sites to their neighbouring ex Soviet countries. Is this site any better? It speaks up against everything, but the blessing about conspiracies is that no one takes you seriously anyway.

The ads you see are from Google AdSense.

Basically advertisers purchase key words (AdWords) so that their ads appear on pages containing those key words.
For example, said Muslim dating site may have purchased the word Muslim. Since the word Muslim appears so much on ATS you will see these ads.

Would people feel uncomfortable if one or two were in charge of this site? Would people stop bringing the subject up and feel afraid to even mention such subjects? Which in turn completely makes this site no different to living in a non democratic free speech part of the world? Just a thought.

Does it matter if the owners or mods of this site are Muslim? Jewish, Catholic or any religion whatsoever? Should all Catholics never speak on subjects to do with their own religion?

Why are you just pointing out Muslims? What religion are you? Do you avoid every topic that has a mention of your religion?

I have beliefs and disbeliefs and I take part on both sides, I am just questioning what people think, No I am not a Muslim either so that probably looks bad on me anyway.

What I am saying is that would people feel like walking on egg shells if certain types of people had power over a certain site.

Okay lets for example go to a WebSite about the FBI and it was specialised in that, would you raise your voice against them if a subject came up in the news that was negative or you oppose some FBI tactics? Would you feel you could not speak your mind?

Why should it matter who runs the site? It doesn't. The internet has more free speach on it than any country in the world. Why? Because it's harder to dictate. Regulations on any server are bound to what is law in the country those servers are in, but even then, it's the responsability of the owner, unless otherwise noted, what happens on the site.

Again, we go back to free speach. It's harder to govern what goes on, on websites and the net itself, it's easier to deal with offline situations since they're right on your doorstep, no tracing involved really.

So no, why should it matter to me who runs a site or who doesn't run a site?

There was an incident when someone opposed Islamic teachings on a website forum and was tracked down and almost killed for it. I did not want to memtion this to give people ideas but I don't find the internet as safe as people make out anymore.

I don't think we are as free as people make out we are, even in cyberspace.

No offense, but do you have a link for this?
as for walking on eggshells and such, look people have been trashing Muslims on here, as well as many other eligions and groups, since well before I started here, and will continue to well after I leave.
Folks don't often even get banned, but sometimes they learn better and go on their way.
The Three Amigos go on meet and greets fairly often to helpsquash these threads, but they can't meet everyone I suppose. As far as I know, they are not Muslim. As for the FBI owning ATS... why?? They don't need to be involved with it at all. They just need to watch it if they need info.

Okay I will try and find the story mentioned in my previous post. But it was a while back and it could be anywhere now.

But another thing is that I don't think this post holds much weight and is quite below par I guess for my own talking point to discuss. But I have made another post where I mention ATS as maybe having something not so trusting about it. But then again most people probably have a little fear to start off with if they know about conspiracies and how they work.

Would I talk too freely about Ghosts and contact with the other side and try to make contact? I would not either, I guess I feel like a bit caucious in what I do and would prefer to avoid such things and its the same feeling when speaking openly about conspiracies and political views, you can feel open to speak your mind on here although in real life I guess I would not so much.
