LAHORE, 9 April 2008 (IRIN) - Within the last month at least two cases have been reported in the press of parents killing, or attempting to kill, children they felt unable to feed.

This is horrible, Pakistani families have begun to kill their own children and sometimes the parents kill themselves after coming to the conclusion they can no longer feed them or themselves.

Is this a cultural based reaction or is this something we'll see more often as the food crisis intensifies?

need i point out that the two victims were both girls......

perhaps that influenced the fathers/familys decision to not be heroic in providing for their (female) posterity..
would this tragedy not have occured if the hungry mouths were males ??
