Consumers' Right to Sue Drug Makers Weakening

www.blacklistednews.com

“Consumers are getting the worst of both worlds,” says David C. Vladeck, a Georgetown Law School professor. “They don’t get the protection the FDA promises because the agency is incapable these days of truly providing a safeguard for the drugs we get. And at the same time, the FDA is claiming that if we’re injured by a product falling through this quite penetrable safety net, all our rights to compensation are cut off by virtue of the FDA’s regulations—inadequate though they may be.”

So we are supposed to have faith that the FDA will ensure our safety when it comes to medical devices and medications. Then when something goes wrong on the manufacturer's end, we cannot receive damages?
What is going on with this? How is it someone can sue when coffee from McDonald's is too hot, yet if you take Vioxx and have a heart attack and die, no one can receive monetary damages? Is this what our federal agencies are coming too?
This is a huge disgrace and our government should be ashamed of itself.
