Bay Area Protests, Arrests Mark War Anniversary

Police arrested more than 20 anti-war protesters in downtown San Francisco Wednesday morning, a spokesman said, during protests marking the fifth anniversary of the beginning of the war in Iraq....

"I think it's important to continue even if you don't see change right away," said marcher Liz Moore, 23, of Berkeley. "It shows the rest of world and other people in the U.S. that a lot of American people haven't forgotten."

Five whole years, where does the time go?

It was quite a sight seeing a long row of people in orange jumpsuits and black hoods on their heads walking chained together this morning while walking to work in downtown San Francisco. The protesters seemed to be very peaceful and not too boisterous, but they still got arrested. Hopefully they will be dismissed as minor misdemeanors.

This begs the question, does it even matter what the people want? There have been protests since day one and the higher-ups continually ignore them. There was an article posted here earlier talking about how Cheney doesn't seem to care that 2/3 of the people are opposed to the war.

What do you think? What do protests accomplish when the PTB turn a deaf ear and a blind eye?
