WASHINGTON (AP) -- Despite ordering improvements more than two years ago, President Bush has barely made a dent in the huge backlog of unanswered requests under the Freedom of Information Act...
..Of those agencies with backlogs, 31 percent even saw pending requests rise during the two years, including some agencies that significantly reduced very old unanswered requests but saw gains wiped out by a surge of new requests...

Lots of requests but not a lot of headway it seems especially when it comes to Homeland Security etc. I guess it's not too surprising given the sudden increase in FOIA requests over the last few years and that no more money has been allocated.
It would appear that the people are becoming more and more concerned about what they are potentially not being told yet are still waiting for answers, despite assurances by the President that the FOIA backlog should be reduced.
