public transit in the states sucks for the most part. i think a lot of people from europe just assume that we have something that's at least half as good as what they have. fact is in most areas there is nothing.

Unfortunately public transit can't compete with the low gas prices of the past, but if the cost keep going up public transit may get another look. I hope so, I hate driving.

Yep,It's the same with Exxon/Mobile,Kerr McGee and the other state based oil companies. They have wells that have been producing for decades. Some when the oil was only worth 12 dollars a barrel. They have no investment in them now other than maintainance. They could sell that oil on the market for less. But do they? no! That is why they have record quarterly profits for the last few years.
Don't you get it? We are standing on the gallows and the noose is getting tighter.

Unlike Chaves Oil, where he didn’t pay anything for the oil companies that he stole, the other oil companies need to make a profit otherwise they will cease being oil companies. Profit is the motivation to do anything, without profit why should anyone do the work?

Cuba finally figured that out and are now letting some farmers make a profit, so that the food shortages can come to an end. Duh!
