Eroding Alaska Town Sues Oil and Power Companies Over Global Warming
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) -- A tiny Alaska village eroding into the Arctic Ocean sued two dozen oil, power and coal companies Tuesday, claiming that
the large amounts of greenhouse gases they emit contribute to global warming that threatens the community's existence.
Alaskan town Sues Oil companies
I was wondering if anyone had seen this article and what some thoughts might be.
I like seeing this actually. This tribe seems to be backed by a good amount of lawyers and advocacy groups. My only question is whether or not they
will end up getting a settlement or if anything will actually be done. Hopefully they have some good data to back them up. Then again, if the tribe
wins, it could raise oil costs yet again. It kind of reminds me of that Steven Segal movie..."Fire Down Below".
I can't imagine that this will be a short lawsuit by any means. I am gonna keep my eye on this. Should be an interesting case. Hopefully they
don't have their hands full as they are taking on some pretty big names.
