The US has a number of disasters threatening that could happen at any moment.

A mega-tsunami could wipe out the East coast because of a volcano off the coast of Africa.

External News Source Text:

What will happen when the volcano on La Palma collapses? Scientists predict that it will generate a wave that will be almost inconceivably destructive, far bigger than anything ever witnessed in modern times. It will surge across the entire Atlantic in a matter of hours, engulfing the whole US east coast, sweeping away everything in its path up to 20km inland. Boston would be hit first, followed by New York, then all the way down the coast to Miami and the Caribbean.

A Mega-thrust quake could generate a tsunami that would wipe out the West coast.

HOW BIG ARE CASCADIA SUBDUCTION ZONE QUAKES?

Great Subduction Zone earthquakes are the largest earthquakes in the world, and can exceed magnitude 9.0. Earthquake size is porportional to fault area, and the Cascadia Subduction Zone is a very long sloping fault that stretches from mid-Vancouver Island to Northern California. It separates the Juan de Fuca and North America plates. Because of the very large fault area, the Cascadia Subduction Zone could produce a very large earthqauke, magnitude 9.0 or greater, if rupture occurred over its whole area.

Both Yellowstone and Long Valley in California are supervolcanos that could blow and cause terrible disasters. So is Valle Grande in New Mexico.

External Text:

A supervolcano is a volcano that produces the largest and most voluminous kinds of eruption on Earth. The explosivity of such eruptions varies, but the volume of ejected tephra is enough to radically alter the landscape and severely affect global climate for years, with cataclysmic consequences for life (see also volcanic winter).

And with the spy satellite that's going to be falling out of the sky any day now, we have to remember to watch the sky for asteriods, solar flares, and other sky borne dangers.

So, with all these dangers we have hanging over our heads, could one or more of them happen at once? Would it wipe out the US, the world, civilization, human life itself?

I should add that I've noticed bad things often happen in clusters. It seems as if one bad thing happens that throws you for a loop, along come a couple other things to stress you even more.

WRT the US, the past 8 years is a pretty good example. There was 9/11, the war, Katrina, bad fires in the west, etc.

At other times, the US has a long string of good times when nothing bad seems to happen.
