"West embraces SHAM democracies and elections"---Human Rights Watch

news.bbc.co.uk

The US, EU and other democracies are accepting flawed and unfair elections out of political expediency, Human Rights Watch says in its annual report.
Allowing autocrats to pose as democrats without demanding they uphold civil and political rights risked undermining human rights worldwide, it warned.

HRW said Pakistan, Thailand, Bahrain, Jordan, Nigeria, Kenya and Russia had been falsely claiming to be democratic.

The World Report 2008 summarises human rights issues in more than 75 nations.

'Playing along'

In the report, HRW said established democracies such as the US and members of the European Union were increasingly tolerating autocrats "claiming the mantle of democracy".

Could not agree more. Our entire electoral process, and "illusion of choice" is so polluted and corrupt beyond words its frightening.

The question is, how do we stop it when these people have amassed so much power and accountability? It's as if we the people don't even exist anymore.

BTW, Never has this been more blatantly obvious than in the past couple of elections, ie. the Diebold corruption, and the choice of corporate hand-picked goons that we're given as "choices". And this includes both 'sides', which in reality are ALL serving the same interests. And those interests have ZERO to do with making our country a better place to live.

I hope more people at least become aware of this, and quit the ridiculous, bi-partisan bickering, as if EITHER of these sides has our best interests at heart. This is precisely what the MSM and PTB want to happen-have us all fighting over the tiny scraps left over from their plundering of the citizens.

It's so obvious and disgusting anymore...We have some HUGE obstacles to overcome as a nation right now.

Bumping this up one last time in light of "Super Tuesday".

Does anybody here still think we are really being given a choice, in terms of ANY of these pre-screened / selected candidates taking our country to a better place? That choice to me is solely nothing more than an illusion.

We are screwed IMO.

The article is about foreign elections in countries that the US UK accept as democratic.

It doesn't mention the US election process at all.

It is a very interesting report on the foreign elections though, on how the west stands for these so-called democracies.

Russia, Kenya are the two big one's I have heard about, did someone change what the word democracy means and I missed it?

Democracy - hmm
Yeah, right.

When realpolitik becomes involved or a country is usefull in some way, we'll recognize whatever they want us to.
