Can't America be the 'Beast'?

Why do American Christians believe their "land of the free" will fall before the might of the "beast" in the end times? Why do they lable a foreign powers such as Russia or the European Union as this "beast", just like other American Christians, nearly half a century earlier, labled Nazi Germany and the former U.S.S.R? Why do they insist Vladimir Putin is the anti-christ? What prophecies or facts do they possess to back up these accusations?

Isn't it possible that America herself is "the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt"? (REV 11:8) Is it possible - no, logical - to assume that the anti-christ would arise out of the world's sole remaining superpower?

Consider:

-The United States vapourised 100,000 civilians in Hiroshima and 50,000 Nagasaki. The Japanese, at least, attacked Pearl Harbour, a military target;

-The United States funds dictators and terrorists alike and provides arms to rogue governments and guerillas;

-The Seal of the United States boasts 13 stars, 13 arrows, and 13 olive leafs - as you no doubt are aware, Christ and His 12 desciples add up to thirteen and Judas Iscariot is often acknowledged as the unlucky thirteenth. Freemasons hold 13 as especially lucky, though I can't guess as to why...;

-The United States, right now, is clamping down on the privacy and freedoms of the American people in the name of security. Fear is used by the government to take power from the people;

-The United States is an empire, and she controls a vast number of vassle-states, whether her citizens acnowledge this or not. She has bases in many countries around the globe - and not one of those countries wants her there;

-The people of the U.S. are relatively clueless about how the rest of the world views their country. Nor do they much care;

-The President of the United States is pursuing an unpoular war, spending hundreds of millions of dollers to convince the American people that war is necessary to safe-guard America - when it is quite obvious to the rest of the world that the "War on Terror" is nothing more than a "War for Oil";

-Ridiculous evidence - such as a terrorist's passport surviving the heat of ignited jet fuel, found on the street in New York - and the arabic flight manual found in that car at the airport (as if...) - suggest that 911 is probably not quite as it initially appears;

Maybe America isn't as Godly and righteous as American Christians think. In fact, it might be a beast that is ravaging the world right now.

America is the headquarters of the UN, so we are part of the beast.

But let me explain what the beast is, it is not just one country or one government. The beast
represents all those who are working for one in the same plan aginast god which would include
all governments and all countries in the world.

I don't think anyone has really STOPPED to think what this implies.

If the US and the UN are the "bad guys/apostates" then it means that countries NOT in the UN (and non-US countries) are the "good guys" who if left alone would not bring about destruction and terror.

I must express my hate towards people who do not know their history.

Yes Japan hit US military targets, if you subtract the numerous attempts to float baloons with bombs and disease over here to the us, which had they not exploded on coast lines and generally unpopulated areas, would have made a nice mess.

This is pointless, what if the colonies tried to seceed from brittain when there were only 10 or 11? or 2? And I know of 3, 5, and 7. 13 comes from the events that took place on friday the 13th 1307, and of what Demolay said on 1314, the day of his death, cursing the pope, the king of france and the prime minister of england to their 13th generation. I have nothing to say about this, because I've heard only of the airport flight manual, which makes sense, if you are about to do a really big job (crashing a plane directly into a tall thin tower, is much like threading a needle without touching the sides.) I'd probably be reading the flight manual one last time myself. As for the passports, who knows, I've heard nothing about that, that might have been leaked to the news by some joker?

I disagree with those points of yours for those reasons. I don't think we are the beast, but I think if we should ever fall from the light, we would become the beast of the bible. In that we shall give all a number, and the masters of man would judge all while being judged not. That time fortunately, has not come, and probably will never truly come. But a better relation, honestly, is Gondor and Mordor.

The Beast in the bible is really just endulgance and greed, man is branded with the mark of the beast because he is an animal, no longer human, but greedy, selfish, all for himself, all for today.

This is an unlikely senario in today's standards, most likely, the US. which can be thought of as Gondor, lead by wise leaders, can fall into darkness such as Mordor, ruled by evil and corrupt beings, who only want themselves to live well.

I like your explanation using gondor and mordor. Also, I don't believe that te un or the us is the beast, i was just saying that it was intresting that there was this parrallel. I think that the us could use its power to help much more than it is at the moment. America is the role model for other free nations and has been this way since its founding. Also Americans should have more of a worldview, being citizens of the only world superpower.

I chose my quotes because, when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbour, they did it because it was a military target. They didn't bomb houses and schools.

The Americans firebombed Tokyo to the moon to demoralise the citizens of Japan; they bombed indiscriminately and Tokyo was not a military target. Then they dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima, again, not a military target, killing 100,000 civilians. Japan surrendered. Then America dropped another bomb, killing 50,000 civilians, just to ensure they got their point across.

Need I remind you that the U.S. had doctors and scientists lined up before the bombs were dropped to examine the effects? They were in the cities the very next day.

I omitted the fact that the Japanese slaughtered thousands of Chinese in internment camps because my argument was based upon the argument that the U.S. overstepped her own values (that Americans claim to cherish). In the war between Japan and the U.S., the Japanese destroyed U.S. ships and naval bases and the Americans retaliated by killing hundreds of thousands of civilians.

If Japan killed hundreds of thousands of Chinese, and such an act is detested by the world, ought the Americans, who claim to be the bastion of Western Values and Morality do the same? Do two stupids make a smart?

The point of this discussion was not to prove that the U.S. is in fact 'the beast', but merely to point out to those who constantly impose 'beastship' on Russia or China that the U.S. has just as many black marks in its history (and present).

I get so frustrated when I go online to search for reasonable information/interpretation of the bible only to find a bunch of crazies naming one or more of America's enemies as the beast. Most of these people will also name Bill Gates or Vladimir Putin as the antichrist/false prophet as well.

We may see some of the signs of the end times as fortold in prophecy, but who can say how long the process will take? Five years? Ten Years? A thousand years?

If the Japanese did manage to push back our navy, after we had been bombing them and such, they'd have done the same to us. The reason that bombing such as that occured in WW2 is because it was of dire importance to keep the enemy weak in morale.

Do you know how hard it would have been to defeat germans, if they weren't already worn down knowing that they may be fighting only to get back and learn their loved ones had died. Americans were strengthened with the resolve of not having that fear.

That does not make us "The Beast" it makes us the executioners. It is humanities right to judge eachother and duly waste one another. The Beast is lack of freedom. Nazi Germany, Japan, they had no freedoms. I think the Matrix sums it up nicely in that they have to kill the very people they are trying to save, just to bring down the system they are trying to save them from.

I disagree with the Second Atomic Bomb, and Dresden, but these are just one or two bad events, in a war filled with hundreds of similar events that HAD to be done.

I think when IF WW3 comes, and you're in the trench, you'll pull the trigger to. Any soldier at that time, if they knew that their very next bomb they'd drop, would hit a factory, even if they KNEW there were thousands of "civilians" (how does someone who supports a war effort by making weapons, claim to be a civilian, I'll never know, remember, victory is on the HOMEFRONT!) they'd still have dropped it.

They Dropped the Bomb on Hiroshima so as to wake the Japanese out of their fanatacism, the Japanese would have killed more of their own people, defending the main islands from invasion, than by two bombs, even 3, they'd have lost 650,000 in the first days of fighting, since we'd need to put 1,000,000 men on the beaches to ensure we broke their defenses.

The US and NO nation can overstep lines of morality, when dealing with unmoral people. The saying "Don't lower yourself to them" does not apply in war, all that applies in war is STRENGTH, and FORGIVENESS after they've surrendered, and the fighting has stopped. Until then, it is destroy them any means necissary. Industrialization just made civilians targets for the first time in history.

Since you've omitted parts of history, how about you omitt the civilians we kill, and just say we killed thousands of Japanese soldiers for the sailors that died at Pearl Harbor?

Again, with the two stupids make a smart, comment, it really has nothing to do with that. Civilians were targets because of many reasons, to weaken the soldiers hearts, and to try and weaken their war effort. In WW2 it was shown that carpet bombing was not an effective means of weakening the war effort, but today's technology, we can cripple an entire nations ability to even send post cards, in a matter of hours, if we can get our planes over there. Tomorrow's war will be an air war, with the victor crushing the logistics of the enemy's armies, making them nearly useless. The only way WW3 will be bloody, is if there is a stalemate in the skies.

Finally, Russia and China are the closest things to the beast there ever was, not because of the suffering it caused, but because of the lack of freedoms they impose.

Soviet Union you couldn't have a baby without them pretty much tatooing it with a barcode, and in China good luck in saying anything about freedom there. They'll throw you in a slave camp before you can say MAO TSE TUNG!

Hmm one thing I'll point out.

Is look at the Doolittle raid. That's an example of blowing up civilians, but it was entirely to show America that we could win this.

It is hard now, seeing all the A$s kicking we did in 1944-45, to see how badly we were getting our a$ses beat even until 1943.

When the Doolittle raid occured, this is how effective the american's had been in the war.

Kasserine pass: killing 2000 Germans, 8000 Americans, German victory.
Wake Island: Some odd number of Americans killed, no escape possible. Japanese Victory.
Pearl harbor: 3000+ Americans dead, 40+ Japanese dead. No real victory.
Phillipeans: not sure on any figures, but it still doesn't look good, when you see a flamethrower spewing fire into a pill box on Cantanoga (whatever it is called) and you realize that's a Jap soldier burning US out....not the other way around so popularized in the later part of the war.
All through 1942 Rommel was making an A$s out of us, inflicting heavy defeats and effectively delaying the invasion of Germany by a year and a half, with just about 200,000 men, and 88mm Artillery peices. (Rommel is short of being a God, if you ever want to read up on what kind of stuff he has done, Patton and him were destined to match witts).
In the Pacific you have the Japs tearing up the feild at New Guinea was it? Anyways, that area there was a battle that raged for some 4 months, just to take over an island about as big as florida.
Then you have Italy, where America suffered some of their heaviest casulties of the war.

It really just did not perk up until we conquered that forementioned island that I don't know off the top of my head, and Italy, then the war really started to get rolling, but taking these places was by no means as easy as was made seen by the sweeping victories in '44 and '45.

You can not just be fighting a back and forth war and not have anything to tell the peeps at home that we are actually kicking butt.

Look at Germany, they had said that they'd never be bombed, well we sure shocked them Boo yah! Teaches them to lay waste to most of London. Of which I'm sure Germany would not have hesitated to slap a Nuke on their V2 as soon as they got one, and they were very close.

Eh...too much rambling! heh...Anyways, the carpet bombing of WW2 was a necessity, not a war monstrosity.

The U.S. was not part of the Old Roman Empire, so they are not a part of the New Roman Empire. When Israel is attacked from the North, it doesn't mean from North America, but from due North; Russia. Gog and Magog.

When Israel is attacked by the North, the Lion (England) and her cubs (U.S., Canada, Australia, etc.) will not lift a hand to stop the invasion except make protests through diplomatic channels.

The symbolism might give the Yanks something to hope for, as the woman is taken away on the wings of an eagle (possibly the U.S.) and hidden from the dragon. The U.S. has the wilderness to hide the Jews and the capability of an airlift. So maybe the U.S. will play a role in the upcoming events other than being just another nartion in subjugation to the Satanic One World Order.

I too believe that we live in the belly of the beast. it isn't just the USA but all human government. They are all bad, thats why we pray for God's kingdom. Babylon is all false religion, getting involved with all governments also known ad the great prostitute. One of the biggest signs that the end is near is going to be when the beast attacks the her/the prostitute/babylon. Isn't the Boston church in danger of going bankrupt because of all the sexual abuse cases?

Actually there have been 3 Roman Empires. First was Rome, than Byzantium and then Russia.

So any Prophecies envolving the "new rome" probably is regaurding Byzantium, because that was around at the time of these prophecies, or Russia, the 3rd Rome. The Romes of the World are called such because they are the decendants of the last lines of Roman Emperors.

When the East seperated from the West to become Byzantium, the line of Emperors continued there, and when Byzantium was over ran, the last of that family travelled north to Rome and Moscow and the principality. Hence the Romanovs.

Okay, America can't be the beast because the Revelation was not about the end of the world. No, it was about the rulers during that time. The purpose of this was to reassure the people who followed christ during that time that God would vanquish and overcome all. And that they should not follow the blaphemous acts of the anti-christ rulers of ancient times. So, the Revelation was written to reassure anyone who was being persucuted for thier open belief in Christ. If you would like to find out what every line meant then go to a bible study on the Revelation. The beast was and is the people who are anti-christ and specifically, the different horns and so on were the different leaders and kings during ancient times.
