Thompson Out; Giuliani Next? Paul the New Perot

edition.cnn.com

Former Sen. Fred Thompson on Tuesday ended his run for the presidency, coming off the heels of a disappointing third-place finish in South Carolina's GOP primary and heading into the showdown state of Florida next week.

Short of cash and sinking in national polls, Thompson had staked his hopes on South Carolina, where a strong showing could have reinvigorated his flagging campaign.

From Rasmussen Markets: McCain is currently given a 49.5% chance to win in Florida while Giuliani is seen at 15%.

The Republican race shake-out is starting, with Thompson out and Giulaini trailing Romney and McCain in FL, a state he himself declared he must win.

Meanwhile, the Neocon mouthpiece, the National Review's online magazine (link above), has posted an article that Ron Paul could become the next Ross Perot--a straight-talking outsider who garners strong support from frustrated conservatives in a lackluster field.

Also, Paul has just announced a proposal to drop the Federal income tax, a move sure to make him absolute anathema to the banking elite.

Hey I used to do that in poker. Play safe and go big on big hands while everyone else bluffs each other out of the game. Then you are stuck with a small pile against two or so big ones.

lol, don't know how much that relates to this, but I can't honestly see Ron Paul dropping out.

In any case, it's harder to win poker when people are cheating.
