It's been rightly pointed out that the entirely unclear situation, as far as International Law is concerned: (although US citizens among the alleged
taliban do constitute a genuine problem) there are no "rules" to be observed.
This does not look like the height of cruelty (I wish commercial flights had that much leg-room ho ho) and the need for in-flight security is pretty
obvious.
I guess the hooding is partly a security measure but also a means of ensuring that others do not know who has actually been captured and
transported, and that may discourage "enemy" action, assessment of intelligence, hostage-taking or whatever.
It is difficult to become enraged at what we have seen: it does not seem excessively brutal, but it is sufficiently humiliating to have some
propaganda value, and -on balance -these are not gallant adversaries.
