Could've the Mayan or any other ancient South American civilization have had contact with Atlantis

Let's say the region of Atlantis was the only place on the Globe that had indiginous Orange groves in ancient times. So when the foreigners visited the magnificient empire, they would see the trees that bear Golden Apples, "The Orange."
Later the seeds were brought to Europe and many other places, and then Orange groves were grown elsewhere.

This is just a theory.
