Brazil facing possible yellow fever cases

www.upi.com

SAO PAULO, Jan. 12 (UPI) -- The Brazilian government has logged12 suspected instances of yellow fever in recent weeks, leading scores of people to seek vaccinations.

Officials suspect the man who died in the Brazilian capital may have been suffering from the viral disease and if their suspicions prove correct it would mark the first urban case of yellow fever in the country since 1942.

Boy, this is some nasty stuff. You could go from being exposed to dead in two weeks.

On January 9th Bloomberg reported that Brazil said it wasn't Yellow Fever. See the 2nd link.

The World Health Organization says that some 200,000 people per year contract Yellow Fever, and of those about 30,000 die. An effective vaccine was developed in the 30's, but before that it was a very dangerous disease.

If Brazil is having a few cases I'm not worried.
