Poker In Movies, Bet Call Raise - Properly

I wish that poker players in movies would leran to bet properly


I was sitting here watching Maverick ( great flick btw ) and am so tired of improper betting on the big screen.

Scenario -

4 Players in game

First player bets 1000,

Second player calls 1000,

Third players says "see your 1000 and raise you 2000".

STOP !!!! That is an illegal bet!!!!

As soon as you say call, see etc, that is your bet, you can't do anything else.

A proper bet would be...

First player bets....

Second player calls...

Third player says "raise", here's your 1000 and I raise you 2000.

Yup, string bets are never allowed at the table. It's funny because people see this and then try to use these shananagans at the table, only to be ridiculed.

I've seen worse though, plenty of times I've seen people think they have a straight or a flush when they only have 4 cards to their hand. Not a good way to go out lol.
