Codes to police stations missing

news.bbc.co.uk

Entry codes to doors of police stations across London were stolen from a car, the Metropolitan Police have confirmed.

The list for access to 73 stations went missing after a car used by a vehicle maintenance contractor was stolen in Ealing, west London, on 28 December.

"There was no breach of security".

No breach of security.... that's a laugh.

Just what do you call the loss of entry codes for 73 police stations?

At least the contractor didn't sell copies of the codes any time before he lost them. Maybe another contractor doing maintenance will sell the new codes instead.

I wonder if water boarding is used to interview potential employees for these security type firms to see if the employee will divulge data?

Wow, there's been so much data theft lately. It's frightening to think about what all that sensitive data could be used for.

I hope the police can straighten this incident out before some people are missing a few £££'s!

Umm...whats the problem here?
Change the codes! Is that so difficult?

They did, but I guess you didn't read the article to find out.

the point is that it's a contracted company with access to the codes in the first place. The employees of this company could easily divulge the codes before anyone realised security had been breached leaving no time to change the codes.
