Blue Oyster Cult

In my quest to learn every song ever made on guitar, I came across the song E.T.I. (Extra Terrestrial Intelligence). It has some pretty weird lyrics that talk about discs and men in black suits, but it has awesome guitar riffs. Has anyone else heard this song, and if so, what did you think?

BOC was the shiznit in the day. Listen to Godzilla too for sound effects. Or Monsters. Art rock.

But you know the hits too, like Reaper right?

BOC was all crazy stuff on purpose. Best lyrics were Black Blade...kind of like a D&D song.

Used to be one of my favourite bands years ago. Great stuff, they are into the occult and a lot of paranormal stuff. Also good musicians. You should explore a lot of the music for the 70s, and 80s. It is much better than the crap from the 90s and since 2000. Back then people were true musicians and they had a brain in their heads.

I don't know how many people that went on stage at the grammys last night and thanked other people for writing songs for them for example.

My guess is they took stories and made them into songs. As mentioned above,the song Black Blade was more than likely talking about the sword in the Elric sagas. The song matches the books perfectly.
I don't believe they put a whole lot of thought into thier songs,just wrote about what they liked.

Don't Fear the Reaper is one of my all time favorite songs.. I don't recall ETI though... going to have to check that out now.

ah yes ive been learning dont fear the reaper on my guitar. boc are a very good band. dont have any of their cds yet though.

Never heard of them so many praises so I'll take a look for them.

Don't forget the muted cow bell!!! It's the most important element! (See the SNL skit on BOC... Will Ferrel plays MUTED COW BELL!)

i believe this song uses the godzilla legend to metaphorically describe the atomic bomb. it is sung in a tone of praise, which makes the song even more sinister. here's another verse:

The strangest BOC lyrics had to be "Dominance and Submission"

yes, they are very cool as well. if you hear a song or two you like, buy the anthology album. its definately worth it
